pareto 80/20
I understand pareto charts, I used them frequently when I worked in machine shops. The most important takeaway was indeed root cause analysis when it provided actionable intel, such as looking at the frequency of offset adjustments to compensate for tool wear and using that information to set a part inspection process to determine exactly how many parts could be made before adjusting those offsets.
It is a powerful tool for solvable problems. The pitfall is that this is not a problem with a

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I've never heard of a lottery winner getting off tax free. They're paying at least 37% and considering all the cuts to programs for avg Americans and all the bloated contracts they're giving to billionaires idgaf if no one ever pays taxes, see if they can all of a sudden find a way to budget.
Somebody once told me a loophole the wealthy use is it's a felony to file a false tax return but it's a misdemeanor not to file one at all and the irs doesn't have the staff to go after misdemean

Play Strategy
One pick 3 combo for the mid day draw for a week, and a different pick 3 combo for the evening. 0.50 straight and 0.50 box for each.
That keeps it a low budget ($14 a week for 14 chances) and is much less work than calculating per draw.
When a few weeks or months go by with no wins, drop it and don't play again until I have another idea... sometimes there are a few years in the off mode. Not exciting, but it is cheap!

because in lotteries the more you study, the more difficult it becomes to predict the next draw
There is not the need to study the data as much IF you learn to write proper back tests for whatever systems you work with. At the very least, any system would need to be profitable OVER TIME... and I have yet to back test a system that was, even on the pick 3. I even ran a back test once on a raspberry pi that back tested every single replacement strategy. It ran through 10 billion iterations and took days... the result was a replacement list that exactly matched the most frequent follower for

Education: In reality lottery money appears to go into education but somewhere else in the state budget or in the education system itself an equal or greater amount than what 'went in' to education is taken out.
You can only find this out via non-lottery sources.

Lottery Phobias
It's been said that the first step to addressing a problem is admitting you have a problem.
For many years I played a lot of $ on the lottery. Admittedly, I won more money then than I do now, but I lost a lot more than I do now. Several years ago I spent over $2700 in one year. There may be some that say that's not that much . Well, I made pretty good money, wife made decent money. We could afford it, but at the end of the year I thought about what I could have done with it. So for the last

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Against my better judgement,,,,,,,,
I was in Publix late this aftrenoon, and I just couldn't resist the temptation to.................... (especially when I saw that twenty dollar bill in my wallet that wasn't earmarked for anything! Actually I realized that it was what was left of my March Lottery budget funds so I figured what the Hell!)
A Fool and his money you're scoffing at me????? Sheeeeee-yit! I say!

would you rather win 1, 10, 50, 100, or 500 million $
Poor me, I'm the victim Cry me a river. Your budget for lottery tickets is way more than what the average American can afford. Unless you're living in subsidized housing and shopping for groceries at the food bank, I think you're doing okay.
It's okay to refer to another user by name. You don't need to beat around the bush. Believe me, I have plenty of life experience at that University.
When it comes to what you and the other haters refer to as book learning , I always find real-life ap

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I think we are basically saying and doing the same thing.
You are not playing MM and are playing other games of your choice. You stay within your budget and support your other games using the money you might have otherwise spent MM. Congratulations on that!
I am just throwing all MM money towards PB because the odds are relatively close and MM is 150% more costly.
I occasionally throw a few dollars at the Rolling Cash 5 5/39 game just for grins and giggles when it hits a 350-400K jac

Lottery Post for the Hobbyist and Serious Lottery Player
The way I play clearly places me in the Hobbyist lane. One combo at a time. Win or (mostly) lose.
Most of what I have learned over the years tends to support Tucker's evaluation, but I still keep trying because with a sensible budget it IS entertainment. Not to mention the volumes learned about programming and spreadsheets along the way.
Still here
Still trying
Still coding...
