That's one way to play, keep buying tickets until you have a sufficiently large chance of winning. This is what professionals do when a jackpot is really big, to the point that the expected value of a ticket is greater than its face value. But under normal circumstances, it wouldn't make any sense to buy up all the combinations when there are millions of them. You'll spend more on tickets than the jackpot. Take Pick 3 for example. The weather is not going to alter the 1 in 10 chance of a particular ball being grabbed by the machine as a winning number. That one is not it could be figured out , it's just plain not possible. As far as the mechanics of balls slamming into each other, there's no question that after a long enough period of time, the drawings will be very predictable, because the balls will get so out of shape, only the three most round balls will get picked while the others lay at the bottom of the machine
