is it luckier to buy tickets on the rich side of town?
This is a classic question in sociology and applied economics, and the answer is well-documented by demographic studies and market research in the United States (such as data from the Brookings Institution, the Tax Foundation, and various state lotteries).
The direct answer is: people from all social classes play, but the financial impact, frequency, and motivation are profoundly different between the poorest and the wealthiest.
Here is the breakdown of how lottery consumption

The $29.95 Non-Believerz
chatgpt prompt: write three blurbs for a book about a person being stalked by the lottery.
output:
A darkly funny nightmare wrapped in a conspiracy thriller. Every scratch ticket, every billboard jackpot, every cheerful jingle feels like a threat. By the final page, you ll never look at a convenience store the same way again. Imagine if fate had a marketing department and it wanted you dead. This novel turns the American dream into psychological horror, following one ordinary person as t

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Hi Sum Buddy! Nice to see you posting. It's been a while since I've read a post from you!
I'd going to ask you a couple of questions....
Did you buy your raffle tickets because you felt that you really could or just might actually win one of the top prizes?
Did you buy your tickets because there will be multiple top prize winners on July 2nd?
Or did you buy your tickets for both of the above reasons?
If so, then you're just like almost every other member of The Lottery Pla

New York- The Million Dollar Raffle
New Yorkers do play raffle games... except they do it in Pennsylvania.
New York's border state of Pennsylvania has been holding their Millionaire Raffle for more than the last 20 consecutive years.
They sell just 500,00 tickets, ($20 each) tickets sales run from November 4, 2025 to January 3, 2025. Odds are 125,000 to 1 to win one million dollars due to the fact they award four one million dollar prizes. I can't ever recall a Millionaire Raffle drawing where they didn't sell all 500,000

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
It seems to me as though it could be a combination of risk/reward ratio and a money management technique that every player *should* have for themselves.
1 Ticket for x jackpot amount, 1 ticket for 5x amount, 1 ticket for 10x amount, 1 ticket for 100x amount, etc... 1 Ticket total per try, 5 tickets total, 10 tickets total, 100 tickets total etc...
It is certainly up to each player to decide what amount is acceptable for their risk/reward ratio and money management goals for them to join

Studying past draws is a waste of time. Each drawing is an independent random event. The only way to increase the probability of winning is to buy more tickets.
It is true that each drawing is an independent random event. Since I mostly play the pick 3, it is also independent by position.
Also, more tickets is the only way to change the odds. But I am frugal so I would rather pick 1 combo than 10 or more, as the draw will still be from 1,000 combinations regardless of how many would be

But in the lottery, people refer to odds in the same way as probability. So on this board, they are the same for all practical purposes .

Get your terms right.
The probability of a three digit number hitting straight is a constant.
It's voodoo math that implies the odds keep changing.
Huh, Ole Stat$ got the Termz right... Notice that I didn't play 674 AGAIN, the next day.... It'z proof that itz Probabilty had CHANGED .. , nor did 674 fall the next day...So, It'z NOT CONSTANT ...
