Mega Millions lost this race. MM had sales of just under $564 million from 4/22 through 6/27. PB had sales of just over $498 million. I'm pretty sure the folks running MM think they won. The average MM jackpot for that period was $176.25 million, and somebody won $348 million (actually a fairly modest cash value of $155.5 million). KYF, Thanks for the break down with needing generated sales and percentages. I haven't considered those particular aspects on the new $5 price tag. My contention is that this run is already at the 40/41 rollover point because of the $50M starting point as opposed to $20M. They eliminated 2 draws and some change by doing so. They also have eliminated the frenzy point(IMHO) that has been a fairly consistent aspect of both the PB and MM games. While the last increase is $57M, I have a suspicion

I generally stick to the game individually for the number of samples. Pick 3, could use 100 draws, which gives each digit a fair chance to be drawn 10 times. Powerball's increase of $8.8 Million is pretty consistent with a Monday drawing. We like Powerball's transparency with Jackpot changes. Below we can see the change in Annuity, Cash and the Sales values all move fairly well with each other. Powerball doesn't give a false perception of Jackpot growth. Mega Millions, however, we can see the disconnect of the Annuity changes relative to the changes in Cash and the Sales for each drawing at the beginning of a Jackpot Run.
