Answer Me This...
A mystery?? Nah. Not to me anyway. Not after reading Tokecap's incredibly good post above. (BTW - I think it's the single best post I've ever seen written on The LP, but that's just one man's opinion) Tokecap's post made it very clear to me that we as members of the lottery playing public have zero visibility as to how state lotteries run their businesses behind the scenes. All players can see is the results of the decisions they made. You're located in New York, so I know you're aware

Answer Me This...
Sure. It's definitely possible that The Florida Lottery changed the percentage of net sales allocated to the winners prize pool. (50%) They could have even changed the percentage of the winners prize pool allocated to the top prize. (62%) But that's not what they did or what happened at all. From reading Fantasy5's Official Rules I didn't see any percentages that changed when the midday drawing was added. It's also true that net sales for FF5 could be down in general these days due to player

Just like you, I'm sure many players would think they'd make more money from extra ticket sales, but to answer your question requires me to ask you a question. That question is - WHAT extra ticket sales? Today's Florida Fantasy5 jackpots are way down. The winners prize pool contains 62% of all ticket sales for the sales period of the upcoming drawing. Single winner jackpots are now approximately $110,000 when prior to going to two draws per day they were approximately $200,000. 62% of $

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Since you resent MM at $5 so much do you have anything even close to the $50 million start point for jackpots? I really doubt it.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Powerball jackpot increased by $35.2 million to $740 million. There is an estimated 5.7% chance the jackpot will be won in the next draw. The gap between the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots continues to group and is now at $650 million.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
the price hike could have been a response to slowing sales There's absolutely no question about it. Lottery revenue has been generally going downhill for years and the lotteries have been trying to stop the decrease or at least slow it down. One of the first huge jackpots was when MM reached $656 million in March 2012 on the 18th drawing. It reached 290 on the 16th drawing and then increased 73 363 and 293 656. A year and a half later in December 2013 it reached $257 million on drawing

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Of all the years I have been a member of Lottery Post, I actually never thought of that. What if lottery officials actually look at our messages regarding opinions on jackpots and insight about the lottery topics and even the lottery in general? The numerous posts and even the charts and graphs that Jade Lottery and other members post on here would give lottery officials different perspectives from lottery fans on the games. After all, I honestly think we have had some of the most dedicated lott

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I may be the only one on this site that likes the Mega Millions game . I'm pretty sure I like it too. I just haven't started playing it yet. Since the first time they broke the $1 billion mark, PB has offered 3 jackpots advertised at more than $1.7 billion, all in the last 3 years. With slower growth I don't expect MM to manage similar results in only 3 years, but the same basic probability as BP at $5 per ticket should theoretically give us 3 jackpots about twice that size. I mostly prefer

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I remember watching the guy from the lottery being interviewed saying how much better the game will be. He said bigger average jackpots. He said the average would be 800 million. And more people would win with improved odds. So far non of that has happened.
