The Mega Millions jackpot increased by the minimum $10 million to $140 million. It is estimated the current jackpot is under funded from sales by about $0.3 million. This will be the last minimum $10 million jackpot increase. Going forward, the jackpot will be fully funded by sales. Nonetheless, there is no possibility for the Mega Millions jackpot to catch up to the Powerball jackpot. The Powerball jackpot is clearly winning this race.

A small percentage of sales is set aside to support the possibility of a jackpot being won before it is fully supported by sales. It balances out in the end.

Looks to me like we'll have the minimum rollovers through 130 and then probably a hair better than 140, followed by 156ish for drawing # 11. Last time around they advertised 154 for drawing # 10, so this time it's running about 1 drawing behind the last run. But wait, there's more. Actually having two games and letting the players pick may be worse right now. As happens so often, I think this is another case of players somehow failing to understand that the point of a lottery is to raise revenue for the entity that runs the lottery. Looks like the last Raffles were in 2016 and 2017. Go to the lottery homepage, navigate to Media Resources/ Annual Reports and have a look at the sales graphs. 2007 was the year with the highest Raffle sales of any year that had a Raffle. I still think it was the drop in scratch-off sales in '24 that sparked this year's Raffle. Guess they miscalculated the players' willingness to drop $20 per play.

The Lottery hasn't updated the weekly Raffle sales data yet, but I bought a ticket this morning around 11:00, a week after the lottery's last update. My ticket was 2775xx, and the lottery's last reported was 263272. 2775xx minus 263272 equals 14228. 14228 divided by 7 equals an average of 2032 tickets drawn per day this past week. We're 89 days into the Raffle, so 2775xx divided by 89 equals 3118. 3118 times 122 (number of days in the Raffle) equals a potential total sales figure of 38

The Mega Millions jackpot was won at $90 million and has reset to $50 million. The jackpot was supported by sales by about $69 million. The run that just ended was experiencing an increase in sales most likely due to the recent $983 million jackpot. The next run will probably have decreased sales which may result in the jackpot reaching at least $150 million before it experiencing a jackpot increase of more than the minimum $10 million. It is funny how probabilities are sometimes perceived.

The number of days between the draw is almost irrelevant. Most sales occur the day of the draw. And sales on a Friday are (almost) always larger than on the Tuesday, For last Friday they had a estimated guess of +$40M. +$50M would imply a +25% of sales v. the prior Friday. I believe it is a reasonable guess .... Could be larger. Don't think it could be lower ..... We'll see.

I don't look at the worksheets enough to notice usually but they increased the annuity and the estimated sales but the cash is still listed the same as before at $498. Any idea why? I think they're underestimating the sales tonight and they're going to be closer to matching saturdays sales of 230 but that's just based off of what I'm seeing locally. I don't see the problem with back to back draws. I see two problems. One is that players would have a maximum of about 22 hours to get out and buy a ticket, assuming they want to wait to find out the results before buying a ticket for the next drawing. It may be closer to half that if lottery sales aren't allowed through the entire night. The other problem is the lottery's side of the same limited purchase period. Less time to buy tickets will almost certainly reduce sales, and the entire p
