Mega Millions and Powerball
I dont think they care about a bunch of pissed off boomers putting their money elsewhere.
There is no elsewhere for players to put their money, and I think they think the whiners are idiots who don't understand what's happening. PB and MM are managed separately, but they both funnel money from lottery players to state treasuries and aren't competing against each other. It's like thinking the people selling Coke are upset about people not buying Coke because they prefer to spend their money

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I don't think it has ever been unusual for the first draw or two to be underfunded, but they need to offer some minimum amount or even the addicts might stop playing. MM is gambling that $50 million is the minimum advertised jackpot that will get enough people playing, while posing a minimum risk of paying a jackpot before it's fully funded. The most recent example I see is when MM was hit on the first drawing a couple of years ago. Total sales of $19,255,000 only funded $13,759,894 of the start

MM and PB jackpot increases.
MM went up $25M and PB$ 13.7M yet MM is the one that gets criticized for smaller increases.
MM is offering a bit more than twice as much money, not counting the larger non-jackpot prizes. M is also putting about twice as much money toward the jackpot for each ticket thanks to the $5 price.
Powerball has a lot more regular players who are not addicts.
Maybe. Ignoring the current run because initial sales are always bigger than normal after a run that reaches $1 billion or more, the

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
They finally broke that elusive 300,000 barrier!
I also bought a ticket today, and compared it to the ticket I bought on Thursday (four days earlier.) The daily sales average for those four days was 2318. So looks like no big sales bump on the past weekend...

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Sales would have to increase by about 50% to get the odds of a win to 3%.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
This is the largest jackpot increase in this run and is mainly due to an increase in interest rates.
No, according to the worksheet on the TX lottery website it's the 4th largest of the 7 increases since the jackpot was fully funded on 4/28. The worksheet says the largest increase was $8.9 million on 5/8. Here are the actual increase in (millions of) real dollars that the worksheet says they'll give you when you claim the prize:

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
232407 tickets sold as of 05/08, up 18219 from last Friday's sales update from Florida Lottery. At 69 days in, that averages 3368 sold per day. If sales proceed at this rate, it will be around 411000 total sold by the end of the raffle.
I may buy anther one before the next drawing...

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Might be the weekend is driving higher ticket sales.
Could be a sign too that clerks aren't yet seeing a lot of sales that might be the source of unfamiliarity. Beats me! G5

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Ok, we went back to look the year before ($2/$3 per Play) and the year after ($5 per Play).
Also, we updated the MM History on our site so anyone can see/copy the data and analyze for themselves.
It appears lottery players don't have an endless sea of cash to play these ridiculous, over priced $5 games and it shows.
To get the number of Plays for the previous $2/$3 cost, we need to set a properly proportioned play price based on the average percentage ratio between $2 at 82% and $3 a

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot increased by the minimum $10 million to $110 million after 6 rolls. There is an estimated 1.4% chance the Mega Millions jackpot will be won in the next draw. The jackpot is underfunded from sales by about $22.5 million.
In the previous Mega Millions run, the jackpot went from $100 million to $125 million and set a new roll record. New roll records were then set for the next several draws. As pointed out by KY Floyd, sales are lower for this run then the previous tw
