Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $43 million to $843 million after 37 consecutive rolls and is the largest Mega Millions jackpot since December 2024. This jackpot increase is surprisingly less than the previous increase. There is a 4.6% chance the jackpot will be won in the November 7 draw with projected sales of $70.3 million. This is the highest sales since the launch of the new game.
The Mega Millions jackpot is starting to grow faster than Powerball as evidenced in only the las

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Yes, it's very telling the advertised jackpot increase is only $10 M after 8 rollovers.
In the most recent $2.00 run, the advertised jackpot increase went above $10 M in just 2 rollovers.
It would suggest many of the playing population have stopped playing the MM or have severely reduced their MM purchases.

Inflation affects the cost of operating the game,
Inflation also affects state budgets that are partially funded by lotteries. Inflation itself isn't a direct reason for the price increase. Decreasing lottery revenue and efforts to prop it up are the reason, so inflation is an indirect cause.
Of course the flip side of that coin is that most players do account for the price/risk of a bet to some degree. Here's the revenue for the first 5 drawings of the last 3 MM runs (current run on le

Rising Gas Prices and the Lottery
Same here I'm blessed to have a union gig. And my job is approximately 15 minutes from my house. Even though I'm sick and tired of playing. I'm still fortunate enough and thankful to be able to buy tickets. I do feel sorry for the people who have been priced out. Due to the increase. Good luck everyone!

Balancing Odds and Cost 😁
The money sits there waiting for someone to win it in a future drawing. It doesn't increase because double play does not have a progressive jackpot contribution. That's why it's only $1 rather than $2.

You're avoiding the question. Players are aware of the different prices, I'm asking why MM is criticized for jackpot increases of $10M and PB isn't for a $8.8M increase. Also not every PB player plays $2, some play $3, so there goes your two and a half times cost.

Impact of "Free Money" on Lottery Spending
While you folks mention consumables, what I just noticed was the House Ins. increase over the last 5 years. It's doubled for us but the cost of the house sure hasn't. Maybe it's gone up 33 - 40% in value.

You've really got me wondering how a shrink would describe somebody with way less than $10M (all of us here) that refers to a )$10M jackpot increase or a lottery with a progressive jackpot (starting at $50M currently $90M) as 'measly millions'. I'm Just saying...... Happy Easter to you too.

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
They can't be very happy about the last win because they took a loss of about $15 million, but they're probably glad the win didn't interrupt a run that was just starting to see an increase in sales. While it might not be obvious to some, unless it was consistently losing money (as opposed to not making as much as they'd like) they could be desperately trying to come up with a better game/idea but they wouldn't simply shut it down without a replacement.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I looked at the recent 1 year treasury rates. Rates haven't increase that much in 2026. 37 million is a considerable rollover amount. I think sales are stronger for mega millions because of the difference in jackpot size from Powerball. If i am missing something let me know.
