Last I knew you could only donate 50% of your income to charity without paying tax. Has that changed, or is it different if you put it into a charitable trust?

I found out about them when reading an article about charities that mentioned the Make A Wish Foundation is a popular and legitimate charity, but so opular that many not so legitimate charitiies use the word Wish in theur names.

It is very easy to avoid paying taxes on lottery wins. Have a winning ticket? Burn it! I've got an even better idea, and if I win the 860ish million cash I expect at drawing time my federal tax bill would be way less than the $318 million some people would pay. Those are truly noble causes and I commend you for the same. I would not spend the winning on Mansions and such, nor would I be giving anyone $100M to spend. On the other hand, I would also not give it all away to charity
