With Powerball you rarely get 10x and most often the multiplier is 2x.

Our pool has their tickets for the Friday Mega Millions draw. We did very well with the multipliers. In the previous two draw, our highest multiplier was 3 times. But with our new tickets, the lowest multiplier is 3 times! Plus with have 2 tickets with a 5 times multiplier and 1 ticket with a 10 times multiplier. Good luck to everyone playing on Friday!

Because these two games have different prices, in order to compare the two games, let's say I wish to spend $10 (the smallest amount with which I can buy a whole number of tickets for either game). I am only considering PB with no multiplier for $1 extra. Personally, I consider the multiplier option a waste of money. If I want to spend more money on lottery tickets, I'll just buy more of them. For $10, I can buy 2 MM tickets, or I can buy 5 PB tickets. Both games have similar probabiliti

I just noticed there is a change in plans for our pool. The pool bought both Mega Millions and Powerball tickets this time. Mega Millions for Friday and Powerball for Saturday. That would really be something if the pool won both games on the same weekend. There would be one heck of an investigation. The Mega Millions tickets had one 5 times multiplier and one 4 times multiplier. No multiplier option selected for the Powerball tickets.

Powerball is $3 here in Idaho. They bundle the multiplier with it for your convenience. Can't buy a ticket here without the multiplier. Then we have the Double Play for another dollar which isn't a bad price for a chance at a $10 million dollar top prize. So for me, Powerball already costs $4.

Here is a breakdown of the changes, which may cause some of you to reconsider (especially if you haven't read the Lottery Post article): Mega Ball 24 - 25 will be removed, making either 24 or 23 total. KRCA says 24. Current odds are 1 in 302 million. The new odds are 1 in 278.369 million according to Lottery Post's article (23 Mega Balls?). KRCA says ~290 million (24 Mega Balls?).
