have you ever been the victim of a lottery scam?
by scam i mean something like a clerk telling you a ticket was not a winner when it actually was, or an email/phone phishing scam saying you won the lottery, or buying some kind of system that promised you'd make a profit but just made you waste a bunch of money on losing tickets. i don't mean scam as in 'the lottery is rigged against me,' so i included that as a separate answer choice for those who believe the real scam is the lottery itself.

New Scam - Beware
I got an email from The National Lottery .... The scary part of this email is this Any breach of confidentiality on the part of the Winners will result to disqualification DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. They don't want people to tell other people about their scam. These crooks are getting smarter. REMEMBER: you can't get disqualified from a scam so be warned and tell everyone.

The next jackpot winner/ winners should be from which State in your humble opinion?
Nigeria, Dicey, don't you think? Considering that Nigeria is the epicenter of scams emanating out of Africa. That winner would be hounded as though in a fox-hunt. Be very cautious of any unsolicited email that informs you that you have won a large sum of money in an international lottery. There is no prize. Lottery scammers often use the names of genuine lotteries in an attempt to add credibility to their claims. This scam email is not in any way associated

watch out for NYS retailers Some are scamming you big time
Listen I have a friend who is from India. He owned a store here in Queens. He was a very nice guy or so I thought. We became friends over the years. About 3 or 4 years ago he left the country very fast. They shut the store down and left the USA so fast and left everything behind. Everything in the store I mean everything. And one day he sent me an email and we started to chat. I acted like I knew nothing but I had heard rumours about something to do with lottery tickets etc. So we started to

you win the jackpot. how far away are you moving?
I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that the correlation between the fake long lost sister trying to scam for insurance money and winning the lottery and moving away is the fact that if someone can try to fake family relations for an insurance scam the same person could try to scam for lottery money by faking family relations which is why moving to an undisclosed location after winning the lottery is needed.
