$1.3 BILLION: Powerball jackpot soars to 5th-largest in game history
there would be unnecessary criticism from some quarters of the population that it isn't right to stoke up the public into a frenzy over 100 or 200 mil.
They're already trying to stoke the frenzy by inflating the actual jackpot by 120% wit the annuity. Advertising 1.4 instead of 1.3 billion will sell more tickets, and criticism about lower revenues is the only criticism they really care about. That said, I'm sure they don't want to step in it like MM did back in 2018 when they advertis

$1 million Powerball lottery ticket purchased in West Virginia expiring in two weeks
Well the drawing has taken place already ... the number isn't exotic at all ...... I predict there will be one winner ... possibly two winners ...... and the state it was won in will be either Nebraska or Oklahoma or both
If I am correct in my prediction you all celebrate with liverwurst sandwiches ... if I am wrong .... well then you'll just eat oliveloaf sandwiches.
As for me right or wrong I'm gonna have Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies with lima

Massachusetts man wins double $1 million Powerball lottery prizes in one drawing
I loved this story when I first read about it because this very lucky guy accidentally did what I've been trying to do intentionally for the last five years.
In the past I've bought a ticket for one drawing (with the Power Play added) with the first five numbers on each line being exactly same. I'm not trying to win the jackpot. Rather I'm trying win a 2 million dollar second place prize five times by matching the first five numbers with each line on the ticket. It's possible for me to win

Judge dismisses $320 million lawsuit for DC Lottery posting wrong Powerball numbers
he DC Lottery posted incorrect Powerball numbers on their website
he later altered his suit to specifically name Florida Powerball Lottery as the sole defendant
If he had a lawyer the lawyer must have been just as stupid as he is. For the sake of argument, let's pretend that if somebody posts incorrect numbers and you have a ticket with those numbers you're entitled to damages. What kind of idiot thinks an entity that conducted the drawing that resulted in the correct official winning nu

DC Lottery offers compensation for players affected by computerized draw error
I've always defended the lottery when people post this draw history is bad by pointing out that randomly drawn numbers can generate patterns that may look funny in retrospect, but if they are random and unpredictable, then there's nothing wrong with it. Not any more!
I will never defend the lottery as long as they use an RNG to choose winning numbers. Probability theory applies to random number drawings that do not contain errors. I had no idea that these RNG systems had bugs in it so many t

EXCLUSIVE: Weeks-long computerized draw error prevented many DC Lottery tickets from winning a prize
I think it goes without saying that this is a failure for the industry, and specifically for SmartPlay.
The reason is that this specific error has happened so many times before, so not only the fact that their systems are allowing these kind of simple mistakes over the course of many years, but the fact that they do not have any monitoring software running that continually examines drawing results for easily-detectable patterns that should be investigated.
Why does SmartPlay not have AI

Your guess is pretty good... But a human being somewhere had to have tipped Williams off that he was ripped off by the gas station owner. If he had first used the Florida Lottery's scanner av

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
I was just thinking what are some of your eccentricities as it pertains to lotto like pb and mm?
Assuming you get quicpick do you not know your numbers until the time of the drawing .... so that you will be surprised?
Do you eat liverwurst or oliveloaf sandwiches prior to purchasing tickets?
Do you drink birch beer, moxie, creme soda or sasparilla with the aforementioned sandwich choices ?
Do you wear sandals at the time of ticket purchase? Even in subzero weather?
Do you cal

Mississippi Lottery halts Cash 3 triple payout promotion one week in
Those funds were apparently only enough for six days and not for the entire month of November they advertised.
And? They expected to pay out some amount, but players won that amount in about 1/4 of the time the lottery expected.
They ended up paying out 97% of all the wagers that month. Don't recall the KY Lottery saying because of an overwhelming player response they would stop sales of triples.
And? Triples account for 1% of the possible results and get drawn 1% of the time as a l

$1.8 billion Powerball jackpot to be split by two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas
Right now the $164.5 million cash value of MM is 45.95% of the $358 million annuity. With the annuity at 35.8% of 1 billion the cash value at the same interest rate has to be $164.5 / .358 for a $1 billion annuity. That's $459.5 million.
Flipping it around, it will take a hair under 2.8 times as much money for 1 billion as for 358 million. Total sales through Saturday are forecast to be $609,162,600 and 121,832,520 tickets. 2.8 time that is 340,314,302 tickets (and total revenue of just over
