$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
One thing I truly miss is bump up to the jackpot like in the good old days. Gone for good I'd say. Considering that they've done it 4 times in the last 4 months it hardly seems like it no longer happens. Changing to 3 drawings per week has a minor effect, but the real issue is that lottery sales per drawing are generally slower than they used to be. Even so, the current PB run is a rare exception (as of now) for not bumping some of the jackpots for runs that made it past the billion dollar

Powerball jackpot hits $1 billion after building for months
Is $50 to much to spend or u go by ur heart? It's not too much if you save the money from all the drawings offering less than $1 billion and spend it on the first drawing for $1 billion or more. What happens if it rolls, though? PB only reached $1 billion once this year up until now. The first time there were 4 drawings for $1 billion or more. So far this run has been slower to get the big increases, and based on the most recent worksheet there's a 56% chance it will roll 3 more times*, so

New Millionaire for Life multi-state game coming in 2026
The initial knee-jerk reactions are predictable. When people are actually in the store buying tickets and comparing this to other games they will realize that this is a decent game. There are some states where that may not be true but from Michigan I can tell you it looks good compared to everything else we have. I don't like waiting years and years for the 6/xx jackpot to get big and the Fantasy 5 here has never been over a Million since it started 20 or 21 years ago. Also in the years

Montana Lottery aims to prohibit bulk purchases after group takes gamble on $1.6 million jackpot
Smaller lottery unexpectedly targeted by purchasing group prompts security discussions Plans partially foiled by another winner By Kate Northrop The Montana Lottery is the latest state to propose rules that would prohibit bulk ticket purchases after an unknown entity bought hundreds of thousands of tickets to scoop a $1.6 million Montana Cash jackpot in May. One by one, state lotteries across the nation have been taking proactive steps to curb the possibility of organized groups

Powerball drawing produces huge number of big winners, including two who split the jackpot
I wasn't a conspiracy theorist until now....... First, having 2 grand prize winners for a non-billion dollar jackpot, not surprising. Those grand prizes not being in at least one of these states (CA, TX, FL or NY) is odd. The real eyebrow raiser was out of 89 second prize winners, there was no representation from TX, FL or NY. Second, in the following drawing on 5/2, miraculously FL and TX have grand prize winners. What really raises suspicion is that 4 out of 5 numbers were outside of w

Powerball drawing produces huge number of big winners, including two who split the jackpot
Mentioning a conspiracy while claiming no conspiracy is just pure irony. If you'd spent enough time on the website you'd have seen dozens of them every time jackpot gets big. Just recently with someone claiming all the jackpots coming from one county in Michigan. I agree with you on one thing. There has never been so many second tier winners on a small jackpot. And if you'd read the article you'd understand the reason behind it. It's the way the playslips are for a lot of the states.

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
My assumption.. Likely operate similarly to California .. Prizes less than the jackpot. Because they are UK, won't be taxed at payout (tax collected at point of sale). No federal tax because effectively UK lottery . Jackpots.. Because they are pooled... and payed out only as an annuity.... not sure...

Oklahoma couple checked forgotten Powerball lottery ticket, found out they won $1 million
a Powerball drawing for a $632.5 million jackpot ... But for four months, the ticket purchased at Harps on East Highway 9 in Norman, Oklahoma had gone unnoticed in a couple's clutter pile on the kitchen table Reading between the lines it sounds like they're not regular players and that clutter pile only had that one ticket, or perhaps a very few tickets from a few of the recent big jackpots. I suspect a lot of unclaimed tickets happen that way - somebody who doesn't normally play picks

Millionaire for Life multi-state lottery game to replace Cash4Life and Lucky for Life in February
I haven't paid any attention to this game nut I just saw it on the NY lottery's home page for the first time. Obviously everybody gets to decide whether or not they want to play, but here are a couple of thoughts. The first is largely about playing this or playing PB (or MM) when the jackpot is still small. Generally, at least 8 to 10 million people (5 to 7 isn't unusual for Monday drawings) spend $2 when the annuity is $20 to $30 million (even if you die before the drawing) and the cash val
