North Carolina lottery winners of $5 million and more could remain anonymous
But lottery sales would plummet. The whole fun of the lottery is seeing what someone does with the money. No one would believe that it is legit if you couldn't expose the winners. They would think it is like the Publishers Clearing House scam.

Powerball drawing produces huge number of big winners, including two who split the jackpot
It is a fluke but it came in on row 5 this time. Just to be clear, there are plenty of patterns and lots of people playing them so the fluke is that the 5 winning numbers happened to match one of the relatively few combinations that can be played by using a pattern. I'm not going to try to count how many possibilities there are, but if we include all of the sequential possibilities, simple/obvious multiples or skips, and straight and diagonal lines I'll guess at about 150 to 200, but call i

Once homeless, now a lottery winner: Colorado man gets his $1 million comeback
Tough sales day leads to a big break in luck By Kate Northrop What seemed like an impossible situation is now one Colorado man's reality after he successfully lifted himself out of homelessness and proceeded to win $1 million in the lottery. A formerly homeless Colorado man worked to remove himself from his unfortunate circumstances, and in doing so indirectly won a $1 million lottery prize. Jonathan G. was having a tough sales day while working as a cell phone representative. He

$1.25 BILLION: Epic Powerball winless streak marches on
Interesting that cash and annuity are both #11 at the moment. The annuity will almost certainly move up to at least the #10 spot and has a reasonable chance to move up as high as #7. There's a good chance for the cash value to move up one spot, but pretty much zero chance of moving up to #9. What percentage of possible ticket combinations will be sold for Wednesday s draw? Their first forecast is for 23.2% but it's going to be higher than that. I don't know if they'd bump the jackpot to

Three $1 million winning Powerball lottery tickets sold at the same New York store
Although it's theoretically possible for each ticket to have been a QP, that's so highly unlikely that it's just plain crazy to think that's what actually happened. The retailer probably sold only a few thousand PB tickets for that drawing. To make it simple let's call it 11,688 tickets, or 1 for every 1000 5+0 combinations. That makes the odds of one ticket winning a 5+0 prize 1 in 1000. The odds of 3 winning tickets is then 1 in 1 billion. Based on NY's total sales and the number of retai

Ontario Lottery implements deposit limits for players under 25
I agree ! I am tired of lottery commissions policing buyers yet they get upset when the sales go down. My state does not allow online ticket buying because they feel it will hurt lottery retailers. They also just started allowing debit cards to purchase but most retailers do not allow you to do it. Cash is still required. So the law change was pointless.

California Lottery accidentally publishes winner's address instead of retailer's in press release
* This isn't the first time they screwed up. Back in 2012, they swooped down onto a store demanded footage of the sales of the day to find the jackpot winner posted their faces on TV. * They seemed to have forgotten that a winner had a year to come forth claim their prize, not less than 2 months after the win. I seriously thought these errors were a thing of the past. Will probably hear ( New Staff) excuse.

Arizona lottery retailer employee sued after buying $12.8 million ticket knowing it was a winner
Most stores close their cash registers at midnight, and any unpaid tickets are written off with that day s sales. Those stacked tickets are stapled to the cash register printout and placed in a box. So how can those same tickets be sold again the next day? It sounds like Circle K has no system in place, and the employees know it.
