Probably the buyer of the winner asked the uncle( owner) to verify the ticket, then he probably told him its a losing ticket, Probably didn't return said ticket then the purchaser reported it stolen . it was the first time a big winner was amongst the rejected pile. I think I remember a similar story in the past, but it's not a good enough memory to be very confident. Memory aside, probability suggest that it would he been for a smaller amount prize. I'm obviously not a lawyer but it's pretty obvious that the ticket belongs to the store.
