SPAM button in PM's
Todd, Just thought of something that might help us all. Is it possible to program a SPAM button in our PM viewer so if we get SPAM from someone there is a automated set point where if enough SPAM button feedbacks would trigger a block of PM's by that person and deletion of other sent SPAM, or for newbies, the complete deletion of membership and sent SPAM.

Not a bad idea. Are you getting spam in your PM? Don't forget to click Report as Spam on any PM you get where the person has clearly mis-used PM to send spam. On top of that, your idea definitely has merit. Thanks for suggesting it.

how about a spam forum - or a com.
i've been noticing a few posters lately from places that dont even have lotteries posting commercial sites - how about a forum just for people that want to sell stuff and then in the place name or somewhere else it could say vendor that way they can have a place to sell stuff (maybe for a small fee)

No, not getting SPAM; however, when someone sends a link, we would like to prevent the possibility of accidently clicking on it until it is security checked.

That is an excellent idea. I also need to create on for the blogs, now that you mention it. By the way, it turns out that guy sent a few dozen PMs, but you are the ONLY ONE to report the spam to me. It's purposeful. Comment spam is one of the blogging industry's biggest problems, and I avoid it altogether by not hyperlinking URLs in the comments. The issue about not being able to copy and paste is something with your web browser. Any standard web browser should be able to highlight and copy the text.

I think this may have given another spammer the same idea, because another LP member tipped me off to someone trying to get people to instant message him for his syndicate . Maybe I'll have to filter all PMs from new members, just like I have strict controls on the forums for new members. I hate to do it, but this spam crap is really getting to me.

I don't know how adverse the change would be on bandwidth usage, but if it's not bad, I think we should have a moderated place to upload and download files, small, perhaps <5MBSome people have in the past offered free excel sheets or requested history files and end up having to get flooded PM boxes or do alot of sifting thru posts to extract e-mail addresses, it might make it easier for more to share more often if there was a small d/l u/l area...
