Complaining, yet again. In TN, if you won't play your tickets again, please donate them or rip them to shreds - don't leave them! Burns my azz, for quite some time, East Indians that aren't satisfied making the commission, nor the bonus they get on other peoples winning tickets. Drop boxes for losing tickets are LOCKED - so they can cabbage them. Not so big an issue? Wow. I've never seen locked boxes for discarded tickets in California. All of our scratchers and SuperLotto are eligible for 2nd chance drawings. I don't scrutinize the winners of our 2nd chance drawings, but they appear to be distributed across the state and no one particular surname pops out like Patel in Tennessee. California did limit 2nd chance entries to 1,000 per month in 2012.

They answered me back a month after I wrote them two emails complaining but I am glad they eventually responded. I know they probably get a lot of complaints but there's a lot he is doing wrong. I believe it may be just to pacify me into thinking they'll do something. I don't think his first name is a real one but his last name is Patel (his first is a common name, like Dave or John for example.) I hope you are right though.

Yeah that rings a bell too...some will cash out at 50%. I heard some guy talking about taxes and being ripped off by a Patel-type...he won $1,000 and got $500, he said he needed the cash so took the loss. wth??

My friend had shoe boxes full of losing lottery tickets he brought to an audit last year to write off as losses. The IRS agent disallowed the losing tickets saying 'you could pick them from garbage cans' ....... the agent asked for RECEIPTS proving he bought the tickets. Long story short - read the IRS rules for deductions from winnings. He wound up paying a lot because he could not prove he bought any. Recent lottery retailer's scams - Big concern !Reply
I find it interesting that a lot of Mom Pop type of retailers are owned by people of Indian origin - Patel . However, I personally think that the scams are by random individuals or small groups of people [2 -6 people], not highly orchestrated by organized crime, and certainly not by the state lottery itself. Thank you for the good lucks! lol... The reactions from a few of the store owners/managers was amusing. The best was the owner of Niki Food store.
