I saw, I bought, I scratched, I lost.
Thank you, you RJOH are the reason I don't play scratch offs; as I have stated before I didnt really play lotto until early this year and even before I bought tickets I read these forums, especially yours. Your perspective on scratch offs really changed my perspective. I wouldve bought I kinds of tickets if I didnt read these posts, but I obviously read them. Ive never thought about the winner in the rolls of tickets and the chance it might not even be there so I don't even bother, and for that

Where would you draw the line?
I draw the line at $5 per ticket regardless of the odds because if the big winner has not been placed in the town that you're buying your tickets, you're not going to win no matter the number of tickets you buy.RJOh

My Idea for a New Scratch Game
RJOh: That's true for any lottery game. Is your point that with scratch games you just know sooner?I think people ask the clerk to check for winners because the games are so complex, and they're afraid that they'll miss a winner. I know I feel that way sometimes. There are no scratch games built for players who want an instant answer without all the nonsense.

The store where I buy my tickets has a box full of key chain with scrappers free for the taking and they been on their counter for over six months. Good luck to your friend in his venture.RJOh

I have missprinted scratch off ticket
Tclix never mentioned if he tried to redeem the ticket at the same place he purchased it. Because of thieves stealing scratch-off tickets at one store and taking them to another store to cash them in, some stores will not cash in scratch-off tickets they didn't sell, the ticket owner would have to go to a lottery office to confirm it was a legal ticket.RJOh

Scratch off Odds?
Somebody is losing, because many states report that the scratch-off and pick3 games are their best money makers. Giving ever player a free play or part of the cost of the ticket back makes every player a winner and the state an even bigger winner.RJOh

Good News for NY scratch players
Ohio has gotten around that problem by selling scratch-off tickets with one of the prizes being a chance to be in a drawing for the top prize after all the tickets are sold. That way the top prize is available during the entire run of the game.RJOh

My Idea for a New Scratch Game
I've seen people buy 20 scratch-off tickets and never bother to check any of them, but ask a clerk to scan them for winners. I think the lotteries offer all those worthless game instructions to give the loser a feeling of some control before learning he has won nothing. Think about it, when the published odds of winning something is 1:5 and many of the prizes are a free ticket with the same odds of winning, then the odds of actually winning some real money are much higher and spending $10 or $

I have missprinted scratch off ticket
Tclix wrote: I just bought one of the new $5 Platinum Payoff tickets in Texas upon scratching it i had one matching number it said i had won $100. Well when i tried redeeming it, the computer payout confirming machine said that I had to claim prize at lottery office. Apparently the ticket is worth more than a $100 according to the lotto computer. It has to be worth more than $599 for this to occur. I have been to 3 different stores they all came up the same. Any suggestions on who to cont

Scratch off Odds?
If you play, you know the odds and you know the prize, that is as fair as it get. And don't forget those odds usually include the chance to win a free ticket which some think is another chance to lose and shouldn't count as a prize. Most scratch off tickets don't offer a really big prize anymore because players complained about tickets continuing to be sold after the main prize was won. In Ohio they just offer a prize of being entered in a drawing for a big prize ($100K or more). Some people lik
