Powerball lottery jackpot hits record $365 million
It's a news story, so don't expect accuracy or you'll only be disappointed. You'll notice that the headline also calls it a record. It is the first time that Powerball will pay more than the $170 million that Jack Whittaker won 3 years ago, but it's still about 7 million shy of the real US record, which is the Mega Millions game won in California back in mid-November. Before that the record was the $180 million paid by the Big Game and split by two winners in 2000. If PB rolls one more time, th

CDN Lotto 649 Sets A New Record
The Canadian Lotto 649 set a new record for the Oct 22 draw. The $30 million bonus jackpot is the largest ever. The previous record was $29,140,524 set on Aug 7, 2004. Interesting to note that the previous record was set after the current cap rule was invoked. When the jackpot reaches $25 million, then a larger percentage of the money goes towards lower tier prizes and away from the jackpot. On the Aug 7, 2005 draw a match 4 paid $217. A match 4 normally pays $70 on average. A match 5 paid $6,628

Powerball Lottery Jackpot Grows to New Record of $340 Million
I wonder how much marketing they did to educate people of the new annuity schedule. Most people will believe that when there is a new record annuity jackpot that basically means a new record cash value (Most people at this jackpot level will choose cash). Powerball could tomorrow change the cash to annuity ratio to around 25% which could lead to a new record annuity jackpot of $400 million. Does that really mean its a new record? Not in my book. The record jackpot title should only be given to th

MM sets two new records
For the second time in a row, the Mega Millions lottery rolled to $150 million and set two new records. It is currently the second largest jackpot in the US. This is a record high for the second largest jackpot. The previous record was $125 million.$150 million is also the largest MM jackpot after 13 rolls. The previous record was $138 million set on July 12, 2002. This is probably related to Texas joining MM.The 13 roll record for The Big Game lottery that MM replaced was $73 million. The Powerb
