Lottery tickets accidentally shipped to man's house
i think this is in response to me? i should explain further. there are 2 bar codes on tickets sold here. one is the ticket identifier, the other is a prize identifier. the prize one is under the latex scratch off stuff. you have to assume there is no info on the ticket identifier code that people could use for working out if it is a winner. you would have to sell the ticket, then scan the prize identifier t claim the prize. that involves scratching off the latex.

Vermont family turns losing lottery tickets into cash
Second chances are more lucrative in Iowa than the original lottery tickets. When you buy a lottery ticket you are lucky if you get your money back, let alone win some money.I've scored pretty well on the second chances.Iowa has a thing called Play it Again where you enter the numbers and codes of your losing tickets on the lotterys website and buy prizes with the points that you accumulate.I've scored a 27 in. flat screen t.v.,a stereo, vacume cleaner and a camcorder for my daughter,a vacuume clea

10 Rules for playing scratchies
I think the amount may be different but the principles the same. The reason being as far as I can tell is the amount coinsides with what the store is allowed to cash. Mass being $600 or less. The clerk can always scratch the code to make sure its a winner for said amount before scanning. If they are up on the codes and they arent sure if they have a winner they can check because if they scan 3 losing tickets they have to reset the lotto machine. Don't know what that really entails but from what

I have 2 experiments for the scratchers to try..
There is a 3-letter code on every scratch ticket which denotes a winner up to $600. For example one=$1 ohn=$100 twy=$20 etc.. If it is not a winner or if it is over $600 it will display a supposedly random code like srx, ovt, tre, oir etc.. It is my thought that there should be a pattern behind these codes. The codes can be found scratching certain areas of the ticket usually between winning numbers. I believe some states are a bit defferent depending on the company they're using to make the ticket

Do you or anyone you know only scratch ...
Not that I know of and but if people do that then they probably don't know about the winning letter codes, surely they'd scratch the whole thing to find one? Hmm The biggest offense I've seen done is people just sctratching to find the winning letters like TEN. Not always smart since higher amounts have losing codes, so I've heard. The garbage cans in front of some places I go to are full of tickets and last time I considered getting some out of the trash, but the cans are right in front of the

Thats why this 1st ticket will be my last. The cards are super small and you really have to check if you won. Granted I take all my losers to the self scanner, just not sure I want to deal with it all the time. I will get a few more $10 Sizzlin 7's. They are nice and bright and easy to read. Havent seen the new $2 1K for Life, but they look better then the old. The old ones were horrible to scratch but at least still used the letter codes to tell of winners.

Been Playing Scratch Offs But Fear I Have Been Throwing Winnings Away...
You are right James. I have been doing that. I play Seasons Greetings mostly. There's only 5 numbers to scratch off. I have been playing by matching the numbers. If the numbers don't match. It's obvious to me that I haven't won anything. So why take it back to the clerk and have it scanned when it's a loser? Surely the codes will never go contrary to the numbers will they?

Millions in lottery jackpots expire every year
There are so many security codes and other precautions on scratchers that get registered as the winner. Still think NYS should have paid for a non-registered non-winner and either paid, or had the contractor that supplies the tickets, take the loss. I know some that only scratch several areas of the ticket that have these special codes and they know the exact amount of win without scratching any part of real game board. Seen other thrown away tickets that the players only scratched the bar code
