How big is your pool?
I wish I could buy tickets for the huge Powerball jackpot but I cannot since I live in Canada. Given the size of the jackpot and the long odds to win, I am curious as to how big some of the office pools are. Two questions: 1. How big is your pool as in how many members in the pool? 2. How big is your pool as in how many tickets did it buy? By draw time, I will summarize with the largest numbers I see posted. Thanks. Please do not derail this thread by discussing whe

Joys of running a lottery pool
I think it depends upon how many players are in the pool as to making the decision as to how much money would be rolled back in the pool or distributed to the members. The pool I run at my workplace that can have many as 30 players. (Sometimes we get more than 30) Winning 600 bucks would mean 20 bucks for each player, so I'd distribute the cash. I'd do that simply because we've only hit small prizes that are put back in the pool. I'd be nice to hand out money to the players rather than always

So what would the "Holy Grail" of Pick 3 playing be?
There are 4 separate pools of numbers in the Pick 3. Using the 120 box numbers they are: 1) The numbers that start with 0. 36 #'s 30% of the 120 pool. 2) The numbers that start with 1. 28#'s 23.3% of the 120 pool. 3) The numbers that start with 2. 21#'s 17.5% of the 120 pool. (These 3 combined are 85#'s 70.8% of the 120 pool.) 4) The numbers that start with 3,4,5,6,7. Let's call them, all the others. These are 35#'s 29.1% of the 120 pool. These can be reduced even further to 25#'

Beware of sharks swimming in your office lottery pool
I run a pool at my office. There are 13 of us in it total and we each put $4 on payday(every other Friday) in. We buy a mix of Powerball, Lotto, and MegaMillions tickets. My members all pay timely except for one because she got promoted to a job where she travels a lot, so I cover her and she pays me back when she returns to the office. She and I started the pool when we were office mates, then others asked to join and it's up to 13. A few of the members have since retired, but they pay me for s

Two workers in lottery pool sue over $118 million ticket
lol - how about... 1. everyone put in the price of 1 ticket into the pool. 2. pool manager buys tickets with the exact same number on each ticket. 3. pool manager hands out tickets, one to each member. 4. if they win - everyone cashes in their OWN ticket for their OWN portion of the pool. 5. those IN the pool have a ticket to prove it. those NOT in - dont have a ticket. if we could all pull together... WE ARE GOING TO WIN TOGETHER!!
If you want to convince people to join a pool you have to demonstrate clearly to them what you can achieve with your system. Which means, if you can, backtracking it for at least 2-3 month, computing the results and presenting them to the prospective players. As we all know money talks. If you can demonstrate that your method can make money on regular and extended basis (though not necessarily all the time) you will convince many. Personally I would be. You did predict your straight single

Mega Millions winner forced to split jackpot with co-workers
A few years back there were on average about 13 to 16 of us in the clinic I worked in at the time that used to pool our money together when PB and MM would get close to $200M. I was usually one of the two people that would go around and collect money from participants, obtaining signatures along with the amount of money that they wanted to bet. Most we ever won was around $17 lol, but it was still a fun project to work on and I am sure as hell glad that we never won the jackpot... because in tru

Ohio man sues for share of $99M lottery jackpot
This right here represents what is wrong with this country...that ENTITLEMENT attitude. Just because a worker works for a company for X amount of years, that worker thinks he/she is a part of the company and is owed something. If you don't own shares of a company, the company only owes you what it is contractually bound to pay you for labor and benefits, as applicable. Just because a person plays the lottery in a pool for X amount of years, but was not contractually IN when the numbers hit, that

$200M Powerball lottery jackpot won by N.Y. Costco workers
Hi Lucky from Ohio, I remember Ohio hogging up a lot of the large $200 million+ jackpot wins in 2007, 2008, and 2009, so Ohio has won its fair share. Illinois...not so much. And for the relatively short time Oklahoma and North Carolina have joined the lottery, they have won on a more frequent basis than Illinois. So I hope this is Illinois' year to dominate in lottery winnings. As for this idea of lottery pools (which are a bad idea IMHO) waiting until a certain jackpot amount is reached

Christmastime battle over lottery jackpot
Congratulations Ms. French, I hope you receive your 1/8 share of your lottery pool's jackpot win and soon get some BIG happinesses in your life. Lottery jackpot wins are supposed to be enthralling, lingering experiences! Although, my thoughts these past few years have come to the conclusion that participating in a lottery pool is unwise, too many wild card individual personalities and conceiving potential! Well, apparently Ms. French's lawyer, Culmo, has publicly (via WFTV) and privately info
