N.J. lawmaker wants to expand lottery reach, sales
Targets Internet sales, mobile phones, and 'big box' stores
Saying it would generate more cash for the state, New Jersey Senate President Richard Codey will push a plan to expand the New Jersey Lottery by selling tickets at big box stores such as Home Depot or Target, adding internet sales and even allowing people to play the games with their cell phones.
Codey (D-Essex) said the Lottery has untapped potential that can help ease New Jersey's fiscal woes over the next decade. He said he bel

The 5 year countdown has begun, 12-21-2012
A countdown indeed. Of all the end of the world doom-saying dates, this one has had a tremendous amount of air time already. Further substance is added by numerologists and others who add their take and incidence of the date showing up in their work. Every time I dwell on this subject even briefly, I experience a premonition that I can't shake. I do not have a full fix yet on what message I'm getting but I will say this: There is serious potential for this to become an out-of-

Lottery Post announces Lottery Results Gadget for Windows Vista
I won't be upgrading until after the first of the year, but this is going to save me a lot of time. I check the PowerBall results every Thursday and Sunday, and MegaMillions every Wednesday and Saturday. I also check the daily results for South Carolina, Delaware, Virginia, Florida, Michigan and Ohio.
All of these are in my Favorites list but, since I still use a dial-up modem, it can take a while to scroll to each link (I'm too lazy to organize them more efficiently), and I can usual

CORPORATE Lottery
I guess I don't get the original poll question - didn't seem to be an option there for I think its OK - all the options seemed the be variations of no - don't let the foreigners do it . That kind of compromises the poll, IMO.
Full disclosure - I actually did consulting fork for Goldman (indirectly) in assessing valuation of GTECH for the buyout.
My first question is - what is the premise here? That only US controlled companies should be able to provide lottery systems in the U

Hoosier Lottery
Back to the precise beginning topic of this thread, why the Hoosier Lotto jackpot has gotten so high.
According to my calculations, according to recent sales, on a given draw there is about a 1 in 10 chance of a jackpot winner. And it has rolled quite a bit of times, a lot more than 10. But hey, can't a game go on a long roll once in a while? Well, problem here is, it's not the first long string of rollovers for this game. Not too long ago it rolled all the way up to $28 or so million.
So

Predicting Next Wins and Particle Locales
Recently read one of the many internet articles on Probability, it linked me to the Uncertainty Principle article explaining locales of subatomic particles. Go figure. However, I find that the explanation (modified below) applies to next digits to be drawn in a Pick 3 or 4 lottery.
Our current inabilities won t allow us to determine the specific day or an exact win date for a single digit's next occurrence, we can only deal in probabilities of a next win date for numbers. There rema

What if?
Todd,
Your third party credit card service can give you forum member information? Also, panera requires e-mail address to get access rights on their APs, it is hard to hide behind a computer unless you are on 24. It is almost laughable the liberties they take with technology on 24, because they make appear so dynamic, but they will get you if they want you. The feds can insert themselves in whatever layer they want.
I don't know if this is old hat but, the odds of a member hitting MMs all

Florida Results - An error?
Absolutely correct. It kinda bugs me that there is such a weak link in the chain (a human being!), but when something is working well most of the time and it doesn't cost much (a few minutes of time each day), it tends to get little attention, and little desire by management to throw money at it.
The lotteries should hire me to act as their technical specialist to work with GTECH and/or Scientific Games (whichever is in their state) to develop a bullet-proof automated system for communicatin

Automated lottery number checker
I have created an automated lottery number checker (excel spreadsheet).
The user enters the numbers they have played in one sheet (I am currently checking 18 numbers at a time, but there is no limit), then enters in the winning numbers for that draw (current sheet tracks and maintains history on up to 10 draws). The automated system then checks the winning number with all number plays and indicates how many wins there are. It also calculates the total winnings (net of entry fees) for that w

Can someone explain to me this scale?
Todd went through a lot of rough times on here every time he made changes to this site someone had complaints about it. Less we forget this is his site to do with what he pleases. He has bent over backwards creating features not found anywhere on the net. He is at the forefront of web based technology something of which many of us have no clue about. He had designed and built the site from the ground up. It's his baby. he pampers it, powders it and spanks it's behind when it screws up.
I can
