Or maybe PB should start at $30M instead. Actually, if they were honest and based the JP on actual base revenue collected, they would start MM at $10M and PB at $20M. But they go for the marketing bump of a larger starting JP to speed up the rate of increase of sales. MM has a slightly higher annuity factor, but PB has a dedicated jackpot reserve, so the PB JP is more inflated than MM.(and they run a JP deficit longer)

This is scary. I cannot believe this was published, although I recall that in recent months, they discovered that a computer had randomly generated articles and they got cleared by peer review. First, his theory is nothing new (it's actually a fallacy), and his website appears to be from 2001 (if we are to believe the footer) Second, he cites himself in 2 of the 5 references in his paper. why do the odds for each drawn combination decrease with the increase of the jackpot sum, or in other words with the number of bets? The odds of each potential combination to win is not reduced by how many people are playing or how large a JP gets, they are fixed. The PAYOUT may change because more people are playing, thus increasing the possibility that there will be more than one JP winner, or more lower tier prize winners.

I'll have to check today's interest rates, but eyeballing it I would say about $267 million. However, jackpot would most likely increase by the time of drawing, especially being so close to $500M annuity.

I agree the rollover amount has been disappointing though I really shouldn't be complaining as I only bought $1. I wonder if it will finally make a triple digit increase should no one win on Tuesday.

Oh absolutely. I'm a pretty happy person already. Not having enough money is my only stressor. It bothers me that I'm not in a position to help loved ones with medical expenses or college tuition. It bothers me that my hours rarely allow me time to stop and smell the roses. Financial security will allow me to help out those that I love and will buy me the free time to either spend with them or spend doing the things I love. Those things will definitely increase my happiness factor.
