Pure chance. I haven't yet run the numbers on Powerball, but given current sales levels, there's about a 1 in 4 chance that someone will win Mega Millions before the jackpot reaches 50 million. The rash of wins is nothing out of the ordinary.

If you're only concerned with the jackpot and don't care about lesser prizes, you're about 20% more likely to win with 16 mega millions tickets. The probability for both options is still worse than 1 in 15 million.

the cash options aren't that great considering the large matrix of numbers you have to get right to win them. better off playing the other games with better cash options. see powerball and mega millions cash option 2nd tier prizes compared to this one. better off funneling the money into those than this. game appeals to a younger demographic to be sure but most lottery players were born before 1965 which negates the long term benefit of this game

Yea strange but I have seen it before .. About 9 months ago I was off one didget on every number selected on the mega millions And the mega ball was 12 and I had 11 ! Little different but thought I would share that I saved the ticket to remind myself that I can and will win someday !

A couple of friends did. One came close to winning $49 million in Lotto max (Canadian). Only the last number was one number off. She got around $10 k or something. For the other friend, his numbers came close to matching all the numbers for mega millions, but each set of the numbers for one off from the right ones. He almost flipped his lid.

Some lucky person from Oklahoma won $5 MILLION in last night's mega millions drawing. That is a life changing amount, even after taxes. Kudos to them for paying the extra buck for the Megaplier!

It is good to know that somebody in this forum has enough disposable income to be able to spend $100 a week on lottery tickets.
