Lawyer gives up $14 million Iowa lottery ticket claim
Well, LP members, this one hurts deeply (when we picture it being taken from our self)! I think that the Iowa Lottery should put the $14.3M or whatever the monies they get to keep from this jackpot win in their own state for a special raffle with several BIG multi-million $ first, second, and third place jackpots. Otherwise, it just looks bad on the multi-state run Hot Lotto and Iowa Lottery Headquarters. What do you folks think and feel about this deflating/bummer end result of no jackpot

How Long Do YOU Tend To Play A "Hunch" Number?
Thanks for the input gorgeous Martin and RightPrice. I must learn to be patient because patience pays off, but in the process I will play some fresh numbers along with the hunches to help me endure the long carry that might take place. Rdgrnr, you bring up some interesting things in your post...mainly, Your numbers will come in the day you stop playing them. Oh gosh, why did you have to go and type that? This is one of my lottery fears. Yet, I don't want to carry a number around as a ball and ch

New Mexico ticket wins Powerball's first $1M second prize
That's similar to the position I've taken too. When Ohio replaced its Super Lotto game with Lot'O Play which had similar odds and payouts but cost $2 per play, I only played its last game when they decided to discontinue it and split the jackpot among the lower tier winners if no one won it. PowerBall will have to sell enough tickets to have starting jackpots of $40M and increases of at least $10M after each drawing or they will have to make a similar decision and I'll be ready if they ev

Maddogs Powerball Challenge 1/14
So the Jackpot did not go! Next draw with new rules is set at $80M Ann. Played my Powerballs 1, 11 and 22 tonight and hit a PB only x 5 for $15. Last time that it will pay that much. Will be a $12 pay with PP for the PB only from now on. Think I will not use PP anymore. With the ticket cost of 2.00 each and PP still 1, I feel like they should keep the PP 1 thru 5 and multiply the prize as usual.. Bigger jackpots do not equal better odds. The odds are overall better I know, but not that

Will the Powerball Be Hit Tonight before the new changes are implemented??
I'll be giving it my best shot tonight since it will be while before I play it again. Recently Ohio Classic Lotto reached $50M and the Rolling Cash5 reached $700k+ and I started playing them again and I did better than I usually do. While the big jackpots aren't there, I like the odds of winning a smaller jackpot and MegaMillions is still selling for a dollar. Ohio tried the samething with Lot'O Play a few years back and found people didn't like spending more money to win a larger jackpot whe

Are pre-draws corrupting your lottery strategy ?
Those stinkin' Texans are at it again! Just look at this! If I had played all the pre-test draws for the Texas 2Step for the last 1112 drawing, I would have hit NO jackpots, NO four balls, and 1 three ball O_o?!? You know they'd change that game when they saw me hitting 178 Bonus Balls!

Powerball multi-state lottery to raise prices, jackpots
Good points, Guru101. I remember the front page headlines when California was about to enter MM: California to Join Mega Millions, $500 M Jackpots Possible. Hasn't happened yet, not even $400 M.

Powerball multi-state lottery to raise prices, jackpots
Well 40 million is enough. But they aren't offering me 40 million, they are offering me a small chance at 40 million. So when the chance is that low, I'll take it when it's at least 250 million, since it's going to cost 2 dollars each time. That money adds up, but it adds up a lot slower if you play a lot less often. I usually prefer games like Cash 5 with smaller jackpots, but a much better chance at winning, but I still only play those when their above a certain point. Not that winning 50,000

Powerball multi-state lottery to raise prices, jackpots
The local games are already more attractive on a regular basis, but it seems that a lot of players aren't smart enough to take advantage of that. The chances of winning NY lotto are about 8 times better than the chances of winning MM and 9 times better than powerball. Despite that, MM and PB outsell lotto even on the occasions when the cash value of Lotto is more than the cash value of MM or PB. According to snip NY generally has $2.5 million or more in MM sales for advertised jackpots of $12

Lottery stop loss limit=$60 annually with three playing methods starting in 2012
3) Playing less often for less lines by buying 1 ticket quick pick ticket whenever the jackpot reach $100 or $200 millions. Sully, you can enjoy playing for those big jackpots with 1 single line quick pick. Hey, you never know. I might start spending my $60 annual budget that way. I will alternate between the three playing methods and see how it turns out. I feel that 2) Playing less often for more lines will do it for me. $10 * 6 =$60 by playing for 6 months of the year.
