Year-End Review
Every year at this time I review what I played, spent, won, lost. Then I review how I want to play next year. I play all the jackpot games in Tx. I play Cash 5 and P3 and P4 sporactically. Thing is, I found a way that gives me a very good shot at making a profit on P3, but it doesn't interest me because it's not life changing. By profit I'm talking a few hundred bucks a year. Anytime you make a profit on the lottery is very good. Anyway, I spent about $1275 this year, and I'm planning on c

Have you given up hope that you will win the jackpot?
I have kept track of how much I spend and win, and lose for several years now. I keep track on a monthly basis. I do this because it helps me keep a handle on how much I spend, and because I just want to know where I stand. Each year I win app 15% to 20% of what I play. This year, so far, I'm at 20%. This what I expect each year going in. I do not expect to make a profit. It is very, very rare for anyone to make a profit playing the lottery. It's not set up for people to profit, or even win occa

Spending too much on Lotto Tickets?
I asked for the thread to be closed becuase I feel like im being constantly attacked for being honest? I didnt go through 8 additional years of school after highschool, just so that I can be dished with skepticism and I rather not deal with it. You posted on the net. You asked everyone for their opinion. The people are being honest, same as you. The only way to not deal with it is to not come to this thread. Why would you think that you can just turn it off? This is the internet, not your o

Beware of apophenia!
Lottery drawings are random enough to conduct a lottery. Some numbers have certainly proven to be more probable up to now. Looking at a hundred draws since the last ballset collection change out, and seeing how the more and less drawn numbers do for the next 100 draws I've found they tend to continue their more and less drawn ratio until the ballsets are once again replaced resulting in a third of each group changing to another rate of draw. This is Florida, your mileage ma

Lottery win opens doors for N.Y. doorman
myturn writes: Maybe not, but if you have a good lawyer who can make a case that anonymity is important for your safety and security, they may see things differently. It is only if winners continue to seek anonymity, that lotteries will come around. IMHO, this is really silly. I alway wonder why this is such a big issue on the board. Of course, I'd rather claim my money anonymously, but why would I fight the system? After all, it's a voluntary game and the rules are very clear. Todd pos

Job question: After winning a $100 Million jackpot, you would...
Justxploring I think if you continue to work it would have to be doing something you really enjoy. I mean, George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg didn't stop directing just because they became millionaires. Jay Leno and David Letterman each make about $30 million a year and continue to work. Judge Judy makes about $29 million. What about Oprah Winfrey? Bob Barker just retired after 50 years of being the most popular game show host in history. (at least I think so!) Most of these celebriti

Okla. lawmaker aims to stop lottery winners from staying anonymous
For the sake of discussion, why do you say they would lose that in court? The California Lottery says, these are the rules of our game. If you win you must identfiy yourself. You can claim it as a corporation, but you must provide the name of a natural person. Nothing against the law there. I don't see this to be illegal as long as they enforce the rule to everyone and it doesn't violate any exsiting Federal Law. Also should you try to fight this all thoughts of being anonymous are out the

Stream of Jackpot Winners
I am not a veteran LP member but if I may, I would like to comment. It is by belief that many things do what they do in cycles. The lottery is no exception. In casino gambling sometimes winners seem to come of of the woodwork. Other times long dry spells. However, there are other factors that may contirbute. Do not forget the population is changing in this country and getting bigger. More people, more players, more winning tickets. Even though the odds are stacked against you, with
