Mega Millions lottery jackpot up-sized to $267 million
Three more rolls? Damn, and I thought I was gree.., er, I mean, dreaming big.
With the adjustment the last rollover was 55 million. Even if it only went up by 60 million the cash option would have been nearly 195 million, which would set a new US record by a margin big enough that PB wouldn't beat it until hitting 415. I'd think it would have gone up by more than 60, but when it hit 315 last November the final rollover was only 53, from 262 to 315. Still, two more rolls after that would prob

5m bump in Mega Millions?
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on February 22, 2006I think they should do a 40 year backload annuity with a baloon payment at the end. See how many morons can't tell the difference. I'm not holding my breath on this one breaking 300 million. I have a feeling the time to buy would be now or the next two drawings tops. It seems cursed not to generate high prizes. Euromillions only needs 12 rolls to get to the record. It's prize is all cash.
EuroMillions drawing is held once a week. So it

MM at $203M!!
No MegaMillions does not have a cap. If we get to record territory we are going to bust Powerballs record like it was one that was made years ago.
(I still say Mega Millions is the record holder. Its cash option--the real jackpot--was more back in 2000 then Powerballs was last Saturday night. We just have to reclaim it back from those posers....haha)

Record Powerball lottery won by one Nebraskan
Someone, somewhere in Nebraska held the only winning ticket for the record $365 million Powerball jackpot, but likely wasn't in a rush to come forward, lottery officials said Sunday.
The only ticket matching the winning numbers drawn Saturday night for the multistate lottery was sold at a a U-Stop convenience store in Lincoln, Nebraska Lottery spokesman Brian Rockey said.
It was the biggest jackpot on record for any lottery in the United States.

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
The problem is semantic. In your fuzzy headed, outmoded thinking the word 'jackpot' bears some relationship to a pre-tax dollar amount actually awarded to a prize winner. You think the fact that some enormous percentage of players take the cash, and that the cash amount is a small percentage of the advertised jackpot, you think that has some bearing on whether the jackpot is what's paid, pre-tax to a large majority of the winnersYou think when the lotteries announce how much they've paid in prize

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
When Jack Whittaker won there was $170 million dollars to give away and this time there's only $165 million. That's not a record to anyone with a wit of sense, regardless of what they do with the money before they start writing checks. So, you're saying that in dollars that exist on the day of the drawing the Powerball jackpot is actually $5M smaller than the largest in the past as measured on the same yardstick.Maybe you should start an ongoing thread keeping track of jackpot sizes using this ya

Yacht Stolen From Co-Winner of Record Big Game Lottery Jackpot
A yacht was stolen from a lottery winner in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, so that the thief could impress his girlfriend.Larry Ross made headlines in 2000 when he became one of two winners of the largest North American lottery jackpot ever. The record $363 million Big Game lottery jackpot still stands today as the largest single lottery jackpot prize. But part of Ross' fortune was stolen from him when his 55-foot Viking yacht turned up missing on Father's Day from Jefferson Beach Marina. I was a
