Who plays more, who loses more?Reply
Used to be I had all kinds of charts, then my computer caught a virus and went to the great server in the sky, along with my files. Anymore I usually just buy 1 QP for each jackpot game, though today I bought 2 lines for Saturday's lotto draw. One QP, the other a SP. For the pool at work, I've gotten pretty lazy and I now usually buy QP's. Every now and then I'll take time and pick out numbers to play (it's always MM or PB). I guess with the crazy odds these games have, I'm just taking

If the win was after the break-up, and didn't include any of the money that was pooled, I see no reason the other person would get anything. Just because you two dated and now you've won the lottery, they are just as entitled to a share of that money as that guy down the street you've never even talked to. Now, if it was using funds you two pooled together, then they deserve half, no matter what the relationship status is. I think the basic rule is that you don't discuss sharing

I'll never understand why anyone would join a pool with so many stories of treachery out there, who can you trust, agreement or not? There always seems to be a way around being honest. Who would believe him especially since he called off sick the next day! That's funny! Good point about checking the winning ticket time stamp. I don't think Mr. Swindler is too bright. It'll come back to bite him.

Powerball being $2 will probably have higher record jackpots though, we'll see. Each PB ticket puts about twice as much cash in the jackpot prize pool as each MM ticket, and the new odds will be about 1.13 times steeper than MM odds. That means that over the long term the average jackpot should be about 2.2 times bigger than the average MM jackpot. The same should be true for the biggest jackpot in any sufficiently long period of time. The only real problem with a simple calculation like

Ditto. I had 5 tickets myself, plus a 6th that I entered into a pool at work with 7 other people. All together we had 13 tickets, and not a lousy $100 on any one of them. I've never won anything on any of the tickets I have purchased. But I'll probably always continue to buy those, it really is a much much better chance at a million. Oh well...
