Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
I know this is a mistake to weigh in here again, but I'm so tired of this nonsense. A simple google quest of does buying more tickets increase your chance of winning the lottery turns up this answer. (hint: YES IT DOES!!!) Now if you still want to argue with Doctor Math so be in... continue to believe that extra tickets don't help your odds, and the world is indeed flat... and of course good luck with that bridge investment!

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
People stop at what they can afford
People with serious money don't need to play the lottery. You're making the assumption that they would play just because they may have the money to reduce the odds. You assume that they don't have better ways to invest they're money.
Why would anyone wager $175,000 on a 1 in a thousand chance?, You're defeating your own argument. Even if this imaginary person had the cash to widdle the odds down to a 50/50 bet by playing 87,000,000 combinations, It's sti

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
The correct wording should be, Buying more tickets does not dramatically increase you probability of successfully winning the jackpot.
And, the key word is 'dramatically'; because buying more tickets does improve your probability of success; some, depending on the lottery game type.

Which payoff would you take, gold bullion or $4M cash?
Yeah Gold has been on the increase for years, peaking last year, and since then dropping a $100 or more a troy ounce.
I would be nervous about Gold dipping south again, and would definitely opt for good ol' cold, hard cash.
