Lotto Syndicates
I am at present, running a lottery club at my work. There are 10 of us and it costs $4/payday. With that money, I buy a mix of Powerball and Lotto tickets to cover all 4 drawings(Wed. and Sat.) that take place between paydays. We haven't won any big jackpots yet, I think the most we've won is $52. When we win small amounts, we just buy extra tickets. When Louisiana was offering the $10 Millionaire Raffle ticket, we just happened to win $10 on a batch of tickets, so I polled the members on

The economy is scaring me...
That's the way I feel. I'd rather spend a dollar on every draw, no matter the jackpot size, than save up to spend more money on bigger jackpots. Edit: I goofed. I meant to quote Littleoldlady's post. Though I do agree with ThatScaryChick's agreeing with Littleoldlady.

Tennesse Lotto Plus= SCAM??
Sounds a lot like the Ohio Classic Lotto game (6/49). Its jackpot is $8.3M now and has gone 50 drawings without a hit since its last hit at $3.0M after 20 drawings without a hit. It still has ball drawings and usually goes up $100K after each drawing too. Years ago Ohio Super Lotto (6/49) went up $4M after each drawing but that was before players had PowerBall and BigGame as an option. State game don't attract the players or the money they did years ago when there were fewer games to play an

Could there be a reason people that win jackpots have 1 play on a ticket?
The lotto doesn't want someone running around with 20.00 straight and box tax free. ????? Why not?? They are accepting the wagers for all 1000 combinations. What they do have in place is a liability limit which limits the amount of money thats paid out. It's usually five million, unless you live in New Jersey which pays out on a pari-mutual basis. So if you play the number in a state with the liability you could bet 10.000 dollars straight before the combo would be sold out,and collect 5 millio

Improvements to the jackpot history pages
Might have been a case where the awarded jackpot far exceeded the advertised jackpot. It happens all the time when jackpots reach record amounts. I updated the jackpot in the LP database to reflect the actual amount, as stated on the official site. Of course, the currency conversion to US Dollars reflects the accurate conversion rate on the date of the drawing.

If you won a jackpot, how mcuh would you give to your parents?
I don't know if I would split the jackpot, but I would offer to pay medical expenses, property taxes (no mortgage), buy groceries, etc. Same thing with my grown kids. I'm not sure how to avoid the gift tax this way, but I think it would take longer to reach that max before it kicks in if you do it this way. I also think certain expenses are exempt from the gift tax - like medical expenses and college tuition. As to splitting jackpots, I think you have to have something in writing before the j

Collecting Big Winnings
I'm pretty sure they settle these jackpots electronically. Especially the ones that require the W2G. I think I would probably wait until after the new year if it was more than $20k. I keep all my non winning tickets to deduct, just in case. Not that I have 20 thousand loser tickets or anything, lol. It seems that it would be beneficial to have more time for tax planning. I know for a fact that if you claim in January 2009, you don't have to file taxes until April 2010, but you do have to make

Tenn. Lottery CEO blames lagging sales on Powerball
That is my personal opinion why the lottery sales have come down. I'm sure the jackpots on Powerball have something to do with it as well., but mostly the gas prices, economy instability, etc., As far as confidence levels from the consumer, well, can you blame them? The computerized drawings? Remember, most people don't trust computers and the internet anyway. Oh, let me clarify that, most people I know. Not any of you here, of course. But throw that in the mix with seemingly fixed draws and blo

Michigan Lottery replacing terminals statewide
The new terminal looks appealing. There's a new LCD monitor on the counter wired into the new terminal that faces the customer as they purchase tickets (not sure why the cost, or the need of the monitor). I'm sure with all the new bells and whistles these macines provide, customers are only concerned with the winning ticket. The tickets themselves are printed on a new type of paper (smoother to the touch), I do like the the text of info that's printed on the ticket, much of the same of cours

How do I prove my state lottery's CGNs are fixed?
Like the boys in Vegas would say you're trying to make your point the hard way. This is so simple. The state lotteries that use computers for their million dollar jackpots don't have disclosure. Gee I wonder why? When the lottery commissions start giving out public information of The who? The where purchased? and what type of ticket won? i.e. Quick Pick Ticket or was it a written in slip with personal numbers I'll think otherwise. The small 2, 5, 10. 100, 150 dollar tickets.... we don't
