Ohio Lottery to ditch Lot 'O Play game over lack of interest
I understand, and I do appreciate that you bring these things up, because it's very important to keep the lotteries on their toes. After all, that's the power we all have by sticking together on issues like computerized drawings vs. real drawings, payout percentages, honesty in prize redemption, etc., etc. Please just try to keep comments about various topics together. If this news story is a good example of how Ohio listens to its players, then let's use the opportunity to point

a question concerning computerized draws
Quote: Originally posted by carlacarla on June 4, 2006 Hi this is my first post. Does anyone know if Washington State has computerized drawings? I emailed them and asked them why the drawings are not televised and they responded because it was too expensive and I was unhappy about that. I just recently started playing on a regular basis. I would prefer the balls because I think computers can be cracked and rngs can be influenced. I think balls being 3 dimensional objects floating through s

Tracking #'s by all states
Hello to all,I have read a lot of posts since I joined this month and have noticed that most people track there state/#'s by positon or by some sort of system they have come up with. I'm wondering does anyone tracker # sets by state? I know there is been topics of #'s floating from state to state. This is a big question to me and I'm wondering how many other people have noticed that when a # comes out in one state is most likely to repeat in another state the same day or with in a couple of days

VIDEO: We think these are the best lottery drawings
OMG, when you put your tickets into a 50-50, don't you bend them a little or crease the corners? I know I do, because they are more likely to be picked with a more grippy surface. It's human nature to make mistakes. A ball tumbler machine doesn't think and make decisions about which item to pick. It opens a slot and whichever ball randomly falls in, that's the one it takes. That's exactly what you want in a lottery drawing. No subjective decisions, and total transparency into what is happeni

Mega Millions host calls wrong winning number during broadcast
Human error can still occur with computerized drawings because there still needs to be at least one human involved to manually input the draw results into the database. For security reasons, the draw machines are never connected to the lottery's network. California Lottery used to have some videos on their site that showed how they did all the computerized draws. Someone performs an action on a stand alone computer, and then the numbers are manually recorded, with several people around to witnes

New Jersey Lottery making several changes to Pick 6 draw game
Well said, djphin. All of this tweaking and add-ons such as double-play is the pure greed of the state and national lotteries that have reaped untold billions of dollars in profits over the last 30 years or so and want even more. Of course no one is putting a gun to anyone's head and making them gamble, but obviously the more so called chances to win the lottery offer the more people you reel in. And you also hit the nail on the head about computerized drawings by the same computer that has a

VIDEO: Why we hate computerized drawings
Thanks for reporting on a great topic regarding computerized drawings. I always wondered if and when the winning numbers are drawn from an RNG process, if the winning numbers are selected in a chronological order format. Or, are they selected in a random order and then rearranged in chronological order for public viewing. Also, in Bonus Number Lotto games, would the Bonus Number be selected from the same computer, or a different computer?

Arizona Lottery pulls second computerized drawing machine over duplicate numbers
As I showed, it has NOT happened elsewhere. And as I explained this is the SECOND such failure. Actual probability calculations matter greatly as to if someone is just saying the lottery repeats a lot vs. I have proof that something is wrong . Arizona is not a ball-drawn state, so the hypothetical doesn't mean anything. There hasn't been a ball-drawn state that experienced these levels of obvious malfunctions, so I really don't understand why you keep saying what if . If a lottery wants t

Do Rng Computers Know What Numbers Not To Pick?
Excellent post, Todd! I especially like your last paragraph: I always try to focus my criticisms on the true problems, and by having laser focus, it becomes possible to affect change. When people start throwing out conspiracy theories that don't make sense on the face of them, it is very unhelpful to the cause. We all agree that computerized drawings are bad; let's be smart about explaining our reasons why that is.
