CT consumer protection agency issues investigative report about botched raffle drawing
An investigative report on the $1.375 million, New Year's Day lottery blunder spreads blame among the Connecticut Lottery Corp., state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), and a national accounting firm hired to send an observer to the drawing to verify that proper procedures were followed.
But that accounting firm, Marcum LLP, is denying all culpability in the snafu despite a contract with the lottery corporation requiring it to [o]bserve] that... the Lottery's Official Drawing Procedure

EXCLUSIVE: Weeks-long computerized draw error prevented many DC Lottery tickets from winning a prize
The coding error blocking repeat digits like 111 or 229 in DC 3, 4, and 5 draws from March 31 to April 21 wiped out roughly 27% of combos in DC 3 alone (since 10^3=1,000 total minus 720 unique-digit ones), which is why sharp LP folks caught the stats anomaly so fast. Kudos to DC Lottery for owning it and switching to backups quickly, but holding tickets means they're likely cooking up a fair remediation, maybe prorated payouts based on odds adjustment. Ball draws aren't foolproof either (machine

DC Lottery offers compensation for players affected by computerized draw error
Sure agnoledging Lottery Posts Intel about the glitch would be an admission of guilt. No one ever admits wrongdoing. They blame human error albeit a third party(see it wasn't us)

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
Skipped over the mandatory UK 30 payments part, which is my error.... At least it should only leave 1-2 years of fully owed remaining(7%) taxes that can be potentially not paid. Course, payment 29 and 30 will have the biggest tax collection aspect.

Cloudflare causing disruptions this morning
Thanks for the info! I saw the cloudfare 500 internal server error splash screen of death earlier this morning. It took out sites globally. The trade off of hundreds of replicated nodes for the rare service provider blackout still seems like a better way than the single point of failure physical server hosting.
