Paying a jackpot over 26 years is too long of a time frame
I am starting to belive that the time period of 26 years for the major lotteries to pay jackpots is too long of a time frame. I can tell a friend that I am going to give him a $1 million dollars. Then tell him I will pay him over 1 million years. That million dollars then becomes essentially worthless. I know that is extreme comparing it to the time frame that the lotteries give winnings, but 26 years seems too long. The jackpot amounts are somewhat misleading.

Question for any ticket seller/ store manager
At what dollar amount does a store get paid from the lottery for having sold a winning ticket, and how much does the store get? Does it only apply to jackpots? What if a vendor sold a MM or PB 5+0, does it get anyhitng for having sold it? Do the vendors get anything for having sold Pick 5 jackpot winners?

for those who play the same numbers...
The mega millions winner didn't play their ages he played the date of the month his kids were born on. you can mix and match you know. I have play slips with their birth dates, months of births and days they were born on and then i mix and match you can also in some case add a 10 or 20 to each number if your looking for higher numbers. Playing the jackpots game is more about luck than what numbers are on the play slips.

Better odds??
I didn't suggest that you, or anyone else, concentrates on smalljackpots. I simply pointed out that Even for fairly big jackpots, theprobability of multiple winners is fairly low, and that for smalljackpots the possibility of winning alarge jackpot is non-existent. Yourodds of winning depend entirely on the game odds and how many chances*you* have. How much you might win depends on th ejackpot and thechances of sharing it if you win. Even if there was a good chance ofsharing with another winn

Better odds??
Anyone who concentrates their plays onsmall jackpots thinking they're more likely to be the only winner ismaking a mistake. That's not what I concentrate on. I was simply answering the OP's question, and YES, there is a higher chance of sharing the jackpot when the jackpot is higher because more people are playing. All I did was answer the question. There's too many on this people on this forum that assume when another person answer's a question, that THEY THEMSELF rely on that information wh

Not all Retailers Pay Out to $599
OK. In MD. where the ticket is cashed is where the commission is paid to up to 5K. I KNOW this because I am PERSONALLY involved in two businesses that sell lottery. That is the way it works here. It is not as far as I know , it is a fact here in MD. Only jackpots sold at get credit for the sale. There would be no incentive for anybody to cash anything if they didn't get commission. Stores that sell lottery are in business for themselves not as a favor or obligation to the state.

Protection after a huge jackpot lottery win
No. Oklahoma and Delaware for sure also. Somewhere in the News forum there's pictures of Delaware winners holding big cardboard circles in front of their face (Delaware's answer to anonymous I guess. There's also a post in the News from sometime last year when a couple in Oklahoma won and just made a statement to the press that they wished to remain anonymous, let people know jackpots can be won, and to play but make sure they played responsibly.

Whats up with store clerks today?
I would not make much of that...they most likely mean it in the context of a small tip for their service in case you win big...(however the lottery gives out bonus checks for stores that sell winning tickets)...since you are not legally required to tip anybody you have nothing to worry...it is the buzz of the 300millions that makes people say that..thats a lot of money... also some clercks are overworked...they feel like they should be awarded some recognition from the players....they have to

Hot System Topic
It seems like everyone likes their OWN way of picking # and the majority of time is spent saying their system is the best there is out there.....nobody really likes to share ideas or tactics openly (surprisingly for p3 since there is no pot to be split with others), no meaningful conclusions are reached because the majority of time topics go off topic, people don't like when they are being corrected when they say smth illogical etc...also 90% of posts here daydream about spending their jackpots,

Mega Millions
Pac Part of the reason might be that the multi-state games tend to really diminsh the play for the state lottery Pick 6. Florida has a pretty big population and pretty decent jackpots for a state lottery. Consider Missouri- it's a Powerball state, but the Missouri lottery Pick 6 rarely goes above $2 million, and grows very slowly, most of the play goew to Powerball.
