Matrix change: Powerball to get much harder to win?
They are definitely not thinking they can payout $1 million without changing the matrix, raising the ticket price,and/or killing their cash cow. Right now 60% of the prize money goes to the jackpot and a bit over 11% goes to the second place prize. Paying 2 1/2 times as much for second place would require about 123% of the current prize pool unless they pay fewer second place prizes. That leaves them the choice of raising the odds and/or reducing some of the other prizes.
Reducing the other

Matrix change: Powerball to get much harder to win?
A friend of ours just couldn't wait for California to join Mega Millions, as the newspapers were running stories of possible $500,000,000 jackpots.
Well, no one has seen anything even close to that yet and all that happned were already impossible odds where made more impossible.

The Illinois Little Lotto went form 5 / 30 to 5 /39. Those nine numbes took the odds from 142,506 to one to 575,757 to one.

Suggested QP VS Choosing Survey Project
Tracking but tracking jackpot winners as far as was the winning ticket a quick pick or a set of numbers someone played, not what the numbers were.
In other words, at the end of this little experiment hopefully we'll have several states and games and it will look like:
Illinois Little Lotto, 32 draws, 13 jackpots, 9 were quick picks, 4 were not.

Winning $151M Powerball lottery ticket sold in Rhode Island
congrats to the winners..........
I just found out that Powerball might be making a matrix change pretty soon if its approved by all the participating states. The odds are about to get higher than they are now. Well thats what I read on the South Carolina lottery website in the minutes from the Oct. 4, 2007 meeting. According to the minutes the 2nd prize amount would change also. They want to compete more with the Mega Millions game and produce higher jackpots. A matrix change will also guara

NY Lottery says it goofed: Mahopac winner got $31 million after taxes
Very few people take annual payments. Let's say someone really goofed (not on purpose) and added a zero. Wouldn't you be thrilled to win $10 million even if you thought it was going to be $100 million?
Another way to look at this deception (although it's really not, because you do have the option of taking the annuity) is that it helps boost the jackpot by attracting more players, so that's better for us - right? I mean, if only serious lottery players bought tickets, the jackpots wouldn

NY Lottery says it goofed: Mahopac winner got $31 million after taxes
Here's the actual values, after taxes, for both Powerball and Mega Millions. USA Mega is the originator of the Jackpot Analysis feature, which shows the after-tax value for every state each game is played in.
The analysis pages are updated immediately after either of the jackpots change.

Time and the Lottery Draw - The Connection
TIME and the LOTTERY DRAW
--a crude speculatory primer--
-
I believe that the Time Of Day may be a missing key to use with the various lottery method/systems. It may be important for the Pick 3/4/5 and for picking the right numbers for the Jackpots.
When particular balls are drawn at a particular time, there is no other way, obviously, for any other balls to have been drawn at the that time.
Time is like a portal. Each event, such as a drawn ball, has its own specific moment

Nice payout
Florida MegaMoney game on Tues was $800,000. 2 players won and split the jackpot. The news announced that one winner who claimed her prize today
.... chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for her winnings in the amount of $291,880.91.
$291.880.91 x 2 = $583,761.82 or about 73%
I realize that FL is a pari mutuel state, but I'm guessing somebody underestimated the jackpot size, since the jackpots for this game usually roll from $500K to $900K and payout about 60 to 65%. Then

Pot Size Prediction?
The court's decison couldn't possibly have been a surprise to either lawyer, unless perhaps there had been an agreement that the new member wouldn't get a full share. Even then I don't think it would be surprising when the court ruled that the previous drawings were all distincts events that were done with, and each member deserved a share in proportion to their contribution for the winning drawing. My money says their lawyer was charging by the hour. Splitting the winnings based on each person

How about the Stave Player Sytem?
Quite a number of years ago, when Steve Player was a real person and was operating out of New York, his business burned down and he supposedly got out of the lottery business. I don't remember exactly now whether he ran an add to this effect in Lottery PLlayers magazine or sent out notices in the mail. However, he had the business up for sale. A very reputable person in the lottery business told me in a phone conversation, that he and his partner went to New Hampshire where Steve Player had m
