Hoosier Lotto in a dry spell
I'm not inclined to believe the probability lecturer about this game going this long without a winner only being a fraction of a percent. The spokesman said THIS MONTH, there has been about 3 million tickets each week, but everyone must keep in mind it took time to grow to that number of tickets. 6 months ago, there were a lot less. Also keep in mind 3 million tickets doesn't mean 3 million unique combinations, there are duplicates to consider. Even at 3 million UNIQUE combinations, that's only

Hoosier Lotto in a dry spell
Yes that is a long time. But you do have to look at the odds. I mean if the jackpot is really this high and they are only selling about $1.5 million tickets a drawing, that is a lot of uncovered combinations. Now for how long this has been growing the odds are probably pretty small that it would have lasted this long. But odds are odds. I really don't see how it could be a fraction of a percent though. I mean when the jackpot is small it seems like they don't sell many tickets at all.

Man refuses $4 million lottery win
You really think that's why there have been so many unclaimed jackpots? I can't imagine anyone would simply decide I don't want to be rich and throw away a winning ticket. I noticed this man's name isn't printed. I wonder if it's so people don't harass him. By the way, I agree with Tenaj that he might have a good life, but he didn't say he had family friends, he said he had nobody to share it with. Also, 70 isn't so old that he might not change his mind in the next 20 years and discove

Lottery Profits
Thank you to those who gave some pointers of the Lottery episode carried by a national station. Interesting to get part of the truth. Unfortunate though that the monies arent going where they are intended. Point and case- PA started out with the *good* intentions for senior citizen funding programs. Where they would push the idea that all proceeds benefit senior citizen programs . NOW they simply say, benefits senior citizens (but doesnt really say how much also benefits their other underhanded

Michigan Lottery again to offer $50 Super Raffle tickets
But look at the odds; they will sell 250,000 tickets and have two $2 million winners. Every ticket sold has the same 1 in 125,000 chance of winning. I wonder how many people bought $50 worth of PB or Mega Millions tickets, used your math, and thought nothing of having a 1 in 3,520,000 chance in PB or a 1 in 3,500,000 in MM? Granted the jackpots in PB and MM are much higher but unless you buy a duplicate in your $50, only one ticket can win where in this raffle one ticket has 2 chances of winn

does age play a factor when winning the jackpot?
Heh, when it comes to certain relatives of mine, robbery or worse is almost certain. So I'd have to move fast. I just see how many big lottery winners end up spreading it around and in the end have the typical lotto winner/loser story. I can just see what would happen if it were I who won, if I were to share or whatever, they'd just end up screwing up their own lives and then wanting more to fix their problems. Best way to stop that is not give them anything, they don't deserve it anyway. Of c

I'd estimate the probability of two more MM rollovers as being...
I'd guess that you may not see one. It is possible that a jackpot reaching the high $300's would jump straight to the $500's. I'd like to see it, just to see some old fashioned lotto fever. By extrapolation of past behavior I crudely estimate jackpots of around 310-320M, then 380-400M and then 550-580M. It could happen, probably won't, but could.
