Some of the things mentioned in this thread bug the hell out of me. At the liquor store where I usually buy my Mega Millions tickets, there are lots of pick 3/4 players. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a betship for that. If it is a few numbers that's ok. If they have a list prepared and give it to the clerk, that's ok too. But the ones that stand there and rattle off what they want are being very inconsiderate of others. I try to avoid buying my tickets near the cut off times for

The odds depend really on how many tickets you buy. If you got plenty of tickets or are in a pool you cut your odds almost to Pick 5 level. How my life would change: - I can get gas at Lukoil or Shell instead of Delta or Raceway. - If the store that keeps shortchanging/overcharging me for Lotto does it again I could hire Ron Kuby to sue them! - My Church could finally get their steeple up. ohoh... about 4 min. to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll get to some of your other stuff later, but I think you might have given yourself a really good clue here. Saying 2 tickets changes the odds of a 1 in 140 million odd game to 1 in 70 million is assuming that each ticket is only gambling on 1/2 of the combinations. Let's look at what you just said and apply it to pick 4. There are 10,000 possible outcomes, so the game odds are 1 in 10,000. Half of the 10,000 possible outcomes are odd and half are even. The possible confusion here is with possibilities (and odds) vs. probabilities - they're two different ball games. Lets see if I can take a stab at explaining this. Exciting Horse Racing on 2/3Reply
I've mentioned before on this site that I was a horse player for 20 years before I got into the pick 3. In fact I used to have a horse racing website. The pick 3 hasn't been treating me too well the last few years so maybe it's time to get back into the ponies. Horse racing has a couple advantages over the lottery...it is not random and the state only takes 17-18% of the win-place-show betting pool as opposed to the 50% that the lottery takes.
