People in front of you dictating lots of numbers to the clerk...
Some of the things mentioned in this thread bug the hell out of me. At the liquor store where I usually buy my Mega Millions tickets, there are lots of pick 3/4 players. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a betship for that. If it is a few numbers that's ok. If they have a list prepared and give it to the clerk, that's ok too. But the ones that stand there and rattle off what they want are being very inconsiderate of others. I try to avoid buying my tickets near the cut off times for

Dead_Aim's Plays P4
Larry, This is only the second full post I have made for the Pick 4 game. This is still a work in progress. I said that in the last thread I made. I also said it was not performing as well as I would like. The best thing to do is take your own system results and compare them to other results. You may find similiar numbers, that could reduce the amount of numbers to play. I would play .25 box only to see if I could build a larger pot before getting into the deep end of the bet pool. Today I w

Record Jackpots excluding current Mega
Looks like I won't have to do this list in a while. Sales and jackpots for US games are from www .lottoreport. com and www.usamega.com Sales for Euromillions is from lottery. merseyworld. com which oddly does not list the jackpot amount only the total prize pool. Jackpot information for Euromillions is from www.euromillions.be and www.national-lottery.co.uk All exchanges were done using historical currency exchange rates from www. oanda. com Decided to include sales info fr

Long odds don't bother 'Mega' fans
The odds depend really on how many tickets you buy. If you got plenty of tickets or are in a pool you cut your odds almost to Pick 5 level. How my life would change: - I can get gas at Lukoil or Shell instead of Delta or Raceway. - If the store that keeps shortchanging/overcharging me for Lotto does it again I could hire Ron Kuby to sue them! - My Church could finally get their steeple up. ohoh... about 4 min. to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
I'll get to some of your other stuff later, but I think you might have given yourself a really good clue here. Saying 2 tickets changes the odds of a 1 in 140 million odd game to 1 in 70 million is assuming that each ticket is only gambling on 1/2 of the combinations. Let's look at what you just said and apply it to pick 4. There are 10,000 possible outcomes, so the game odds are 1 in 10,000. Half of the 10,000 possible outcomes are odd and half are even. If you buy one ticket with an od

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
John and KYFloyd are right. But there is just too much confusion. John sums it up pretty well. The possible confusion here is with possibilities (and odds) vs. probabilities - they're two different ball games. Lets see if I can take a stab at explaining this. Lets say for example I buy the combination 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with every possible Mega Ball (46 in total). The odds of matching 5 of 5 are 3,904,700.80 (not the same as how many different combinations). The number of di

Mega now at 340
I do know 1 thing for sure...whoever wins that 340 on tuesday,,will be in this category: 1.someone,who never played lottery before. 2.lottery pool of at least 10 people. 3.someone very lucky, and deserves to win this money. 4.some 65+ man. 5.someone,who play lottery for many years, and finally wins. 6.and possible more then 1 winner hits a jackpot. there's no way in my opinion, someone who plays lottery once a week,is going to hit that jackpot.

Breaking Las Vegas: Could it happen to the lotto..
Stack47 writes: That was done when the lotto games had smaller matrixes, 6/40 - 6/44 and the jackpots were considerably higher then all the possible combinations. When the jackpot was high enough, they simply bought every combination. I believe that happened in Virginia and several states created rules to prevent that from happening in their lotto. I am trying to figure out why anyone would buy all the winning combinations in a lottery game that was 6/44 (or even 6/40) First of al

Lotto 5/25: New Game Idea
According to those figures for every 53130 tickets sold at $1 each, there would be one jackpot winner and with a distribution as suggested by rdc137 if the states kept 50% of sales for themselves then the prize pool would be $26,565. 50% for 1 jackpot = $13,283 each 25% for 100 match 4 = $132 each 15% for 1900 match 3 = $2 each 10% for 11400 match 2 = 20 each *free ticket for 24225 match 1 = (worth $1=$24,225)- a player would be better off to match one than matching two. All the state

Exciting Horse Racing on 2/3
I've mentioned before on this site that I was a horse player for 20 years before I got into the pick 3. In fact I used to have a horse racing website. The pick 3 hasn't been treating me too well the last few years so maybe it's time to get back into the ponies. Horse racing has a couple advantages over the lottery...it is not random and the state only takes 17-18% of the win-place-show betting pool as opposed to the 50% that the lottery takes. Betting increments for the races posted
