At least 2 lottery winners will split record $370 million jackpot
A couple of thoughts: The NJ winner will pay no state tax on their prize, but the Georgia player will pay an extra 6% state tax on their prize. If someone wins a share of the jackpot from California, they won't pay any state tax on the prize. Also, Times Square continues it's winning streak. Times Square is the place where jackpots go to die.

$355 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot increased
The thing about systems is they are an illusion as far as I can tell, being a mathematics fan. If there was a system, then people would win all the time. Lottery officials go to great lengths to randomize; otherwise, there would be no high jackpots. Any groupings of numbers is just a Gaussian distribution. The longer it is drawn the more random the distribution. If there is a pattern, the game is flawed. All balls are designed to be as equal as possible. That said, computerized drawings are o

Match 6 $4,950,000 CASH!
deliberately repeats some of the numbers to make sure a match of 10 is possible. This what I actually always believed. For the record, the match 6 is now the highest it has ever been, $6,000,000! As I said in the MM's thread, there seems to be a trend of record jackpots coming back again...coincidence? I wonder if the PB will follow suit? Seems to be right on track. I usually hate when numbers repeat, but I was glad when they did this week when I won. However very rarely do I ever win with

All states Lottery...tax free
If the U.S. had a nation wide lottery, we could have jackpots that are tax free. Why is it that the U.S. dosen't do this. The only reason Austrailia, and Canada can afford to have a tax free lottery is because they have enough funds coming in to be able to do that.

Lottery winner followed careful spending plan
I remember the Wests in Oregon won the 340 million Pb and the 363 BG was two winners. I also notice the 5 top jackpots never got close to or over 400M. The only way that happens is on this Mega if it keeps going it might make it this time.. but on Pb it is harder to because of the Roll-down rule after a record is reached and also because once a record is reached the News is all over it and the Fever kicks in, and with that usually you find a winner the next drawing or the one after. I am wo

Lottery winner followed careful spending plan
If he really had a system, what faster way to increase your money and become a billionaire than to play the system. There have been quite a few large Powerball Jackpots since he won in May 2005 and I didn't see his system win these drawings. Also, his boast of having a system and saying that when he won there were no systems on the internet and now they are all over the place (as if his win was the catalyst for systems coming of age) rings a litle hollow. With all that said, congratulat

Lottery results cell phone service is first of its kind
That's exactly right. It actually took longer than I estimated for someone to post a message like, Hey! So-and-so was sending text messages for a long time! Seasoned lottery players, and actually even casual players, know that it's a big step to be able to dial up hundreds of various lottery games, to get any combination of them sent to your cell phone within a couple of minutes of the drawing. Don't worry, dvdiva, there is more on the way. That top-20 jackpots thing sounds good to

Match 6 $4,950,000 CASH!
greg, I have to agree with you. I believe the "jackpot" games are only powerball and mega millions. canada has the super 7 and some others, but here in the good ol' US I only consider the above two as jackpots. Call me ignorant if you want to, but I see exactly what you are getting at about this forum. You know- and I know- when you get close to the truth people have a fit. Why? To keep you from the truth of course. Dont you let these people bother you. They kick newbies and others wi

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
Why is it so hard for some people to understand that halving the odds while doubling the price of a ticket doesn't actually change anything? If you're willing to pay $2 for a ticket if the odds are half of what they are now, you don't need the lottery to change the game.Just buy 2 $1 tickets and you'll get exactly the same results. Average jackpots are a function of the odds and how much money goes into the prize pool for each ticket sold. If the odds of winning are 1 in 100 million, the
