Ireland Lottery doesn't have enough cash to pay €94m mystery winner
They will be given the standard Winner Advice booklet and DVD, which includes advice on security, dealing with charities, etc.
We need a Lottery Post DVD and Booklet version of this!
There has been great advice on the forums on how to deal with winning big jackpots, when it comes to
security, lawyers and relatives etc..
I think all U.S. lotteries should have this available for jackpot winners.

$590M Powerball winner still shops at Walmart
Let's also not forget that when she was spotted doing Walmart and eating Crazy Egg cafe, it hadn't even been two weeks. The check probably wasn't even received or deposited in her bank yet. Takes a few weeks for security checks and consolidating money from al the states, etc. I'd be conservative too until I actually saw the money in the bank. Even then, you are still hugely vulnerable until you can diversify.

$590M Powerball winner still shops at Walmart
High taxes are nothing more than a symptom of the bigger problem which is a bloated and over regulatory Gov. The federal Gov has ONE PRIMARY responsibility which is national security. Take a look at this chart and notice that in the past 50 years our number of uniformed military personnel has been cut in half while the number of federal workers in the legislative and judicial branches has doubled. http://www.opm.gov/pol

Winner of record $590.5 million Powerball lottery jackpot announced
Congratulations to the MacKenzies! I have to wonder how I would react if I were 84 and won that kind of money. I'd probably have a heart attack and never get to see my winnings. I just hope with their decision to have her come forward, the son has provided around the clock security.

well the winner still haven't come forward yet $590 Mil PB
Well said. CNBC did a special on billionaire security. Even low-key Buffet has a team. They don't worry about it, because they pay a lot of people a lot of money to worry about it for them.

Record Powerball jackpot won by 1 ticket
Most states stipulate a particular type of trust or corporation is eligible to claim - in California, the grantor must be the winner and it is tied to a grantor's social security #. They cannot be blind. Some other states will allow S corps, which pass through to a shareholder - that shareholder will be the winners and those name would be announced. The other option is a non-profit, but you would be giving away all your money in that case.

Annuity or Lump Sum?
I forgot to mention that you don't pay social security and medicare taxes from the lottery but if you take the lump sum and then invest it, you would need to pay such taxes from your investment.
