Probability of a rollover in PB and MM
Lotteries vary on the amount of sales money they devote to jackpots. In the Powerball and Megamillions cases, 32.7% and 31.7% of sales are devoted to the cash value of the jackpot: This is the money used to buy the annuity value for each drawing. If the lottery rolls over, that money, of course is placed in the next 1st prize pool. Thus if you compare the two cash values with a projected Megamillions jackpot and multiply it by 0.317% you will have the lottery's estimate of ticket sales.

Muskegon resident wins Michigan Lottery's '$2,000,000 Fortune'
William Schad of Muskegon now knows what it's like to feel like a million bucks actually, in his case, two million bucks! He became the Michigan Lottery's newest millionaire on Friday, January 16, 2004 while participating in a mid-court drawing at halftime during the Detroit Pistons vs. Washington Wizards NBA basketball game. No kidding! said Schad, upon learning he had been chosen as one of the five finalists for the Michigan Lottery's $2,000,000 Fortune grand-prize drawing. Holy moley! I

Reducing Lottery Rewards
Some Florida legislators figure that the way to sell more lottery tickets is to reduce the size or number of prizes the players can win. It's something that will be attempted during the 2004 session that begins in March -- and, given the financial philosophy of this Legislature, it has a good chance of passage. This is, after all, the same Legislature that set in motion the largest telephone rate hike in state history using the logic that if rates were increased, there would be more competition f

Lottery frenzy makes Rosenberg store a winner
A corner convenience store in Rosenberg, Texas that reigns as the lottery-selling champion in the Houston area was buzzing Tuesday, selling tickets to eager customers hoping to claim the biggest prize in the Mega Millions drawing since Texas joined the multistate lottery.A steady stream of traffic trying to cash in on the $155 million jackpot pulled in and out of Rudy's Stop Shop, at FM 1640 and Damon, a brown brick facade with a small lot of only half a dozen parking spaces.A line of regular

As lottery trial ends, foes see liars everywhere
A court battle over a $25 million lottery jackpot concluded yesterday with stinging accusations of betrayal and dishonesty.Teri and Cornell Davis, the Englewood couple who claim they won the March 15 New Jersey Lottery Big Game Mega Millions lottery, are either conspiring liars or the victims of a group of greedy, mean-spirited hospital workers suing them for the cash, depending on which side one believes.Closing arguments were delivered yesterday in the six-day, non-jury trial after the final w

Lottery winners say they feared for their safety
Teri and Cornell Davis were so nervous that someone was going to snatch their winning New Jersey Lottery ticket that they hired two armed off-duty police officers to drive them to the lottery office in Trenton to claim their prize. I really thought we were getting our money that day, Teri Davis testified yesterday before state Superior Court Judge Marguerite Simon, sitting in Bergen County, adding that she and her husband had already started receiving threats about the money. But instead of gett

Does Lottery Software work?
Actually, I used this post for preparing the ground for something more important than showing my mediocre (compared with backtracks) results. I want to show the truths about certain bulls that have been swirling around lotteries for decades.
In this context you is used in impersonal manner and does not refer to any partircular person, not even to Stat$ although he is always a tempting target, LOL.
Bull #1: you cannot win because numbers are random.
Predictability depends on 2 factors

Predicting winning numbers? Fact or fiction?
I have been running tests on a System on California Fantasy 5 that produces between 6000 and 8000 combinations per draw. The System updates a Box (7 Numbers per Position) after Every Draw. Duplicate Numbers are Eliminated by Position, but are allowed in more than 1 position in the Box. The Wheel produces only Valid Combinations (5 different numbers). I am using the previous 39 Draws, Counting how many Times a Number hits by Position and taking the top 7 hitters in each Position. With Each Draw,
