Rhode Island-the next Hot Lotto state?
Rhode Island canned its Hot Trax keno-like game last month. The website says look for a new game in the near future. If RI gets HL in November, when the game will further expand, it will be the closest HL state to me. It also would be a cash alternative (HL is annuitized with a cash option) to MA Megabucks, which has always been annuity-only.
Regardless of what the next HL state is, MUSL seriously needs to think about changing the matrix to make HL jackpots bigger, to win even more states.

Has This Ever Happened To You?
I just checked the news section on the FL Lottery site to see if Sat evening's winner bought a QP. Yup! So, as far as I know, every single big jackpot winner has won with a QP. This is one of the reasons I started this thread. I know there have been many discussions about personal numbers vs quickpicks, but if I choose to buy some quickpicks I'll have to either spend more money or give up my personal numbers, something I hesitate to do.
Has anyone else followed their local news and notice

MI Classic Lotto 47 hits record
Well Michigan's Classic Lotto 47 has hit a new record. $7.0 million. This game hasn't been doing to well in this state. We have had the game for well over a year now and this is the highest it has been. This has to have been growing for at least 12 weeks now most likely more. It will be interesting to see if the jackpots grow more after we hit $10 million, that is if we do.

WOW, TALK ABOUT ADDICTION: Woman stole $2.3M to buy lottery tickets
YEOW! $10 dollars a day? That makes me feel better about my $10 a week habit.
Planty said investigators believe Donnelly may have won some small jackpots of $5,000 or even $25,000, but it was never enough to cover the amount she had stolen overall.
Oy! So this means that a woman who spent over $2.3 million playing didn't win a big jackpot? Not too encouraging for someone betting $500 to $1,000 a year.

Something I hope we never see
If Megamillions can't even fix the first prize you don't have to worry about any changes to the second prize. Even if it were doubled and then an annuity I just can't see it happeneing with the current game. I also can't see them changing the current game to generate higher jackpots either. So like it or hate it we are stuck with MegaBS.
I'd say the only way an annuity would enter the second place winner would be a Euromillions style game where you have to pick 2 secondary numbers plus 5 whit

Powerplay option
Playing powerplay does not make sense. It raises the pretax expectation value owing to lower prizes from 0.20 to 0.69, a change of 0.49. It costs a buck beyond the original ticket. It's not worth it.
A bet is considered a good bet when the expectation value, the ratio of the potential reward to the cost, is 1.00 or better. Large lottery jackpots sometimes approach 1.00, but seldom exceed it - although it does happen on a few occassions.
As a practical matter, I play the lottery w

Hot Summer Strings!!
NMRR--(3 Jackpots,maybe 4, do you need the bonus to win?) (2) 4+bonus (8) 4 spots (8) 3+bonus
LottoLaughs:
I just checked the back of one of their betslips. Answer's no. Four plus the bonus pays 500. Five whites is the jackpot.

$367K Fantasy 5 Unclaimed
I was going to continue on a previous thread about unclaimed tickets, but this is the largest Fantasy 5 jackpot I've ever seen and it hasn't been claimed yet. It will expire on Sept 20. I hope that it's not sitting in somebody's suitcase or glove compartment. Jackpots for Fantasy 5 are usually around $200-$250K. They started to grow when Fantasy 5 added EZ Match, but I'm not sure if fewer tourists or the lack of interest in spending the extra dollar caused the decrease. (maybe a little of bot

Top 5 Predictors
Yes Jack, it has been interesting and time not wasted. I don't play these games for the same reason as you...I'm lousy at it. But that's not to say that a group of people couldn't put their best numbers on the table and with a tool like deflate, come up with the most common numbers among the group. I think it could work, at least to get a few bucks back from the game more often than not. Too many different angles of attack to preclude that scenario.
Working together doesn't necessarily

Strike 1 against Powerball
I'd venture to say that the PowerBall jackpot will make to $100million before the year is out. I figure it would take about 2,606,508 people playing completely unique sets of 55 lines of numbers to cover all the possibilities in one drawing. If you know enough to produce 55 lines that can stop the jackpot from growing to $100million, you must have some rather special knowledge. You should also be able to win quite a few jackpots in a year's time. I hope you've made plans to handle all that money
