Are cold numbers a loosing stratagy?
I have to admit I didn't do any analysis of the cold numbers. 9 hadn't come up as a lucky star and was approaching the record number of drawings between the times it has shown up. It just seemed like a good idea to try and cover one of the lucky numbers so if it did come up it would increase my odds for my tickets winning. I think next time I will try to calculate a mean number they occur and go from there. It's just that when jackpots get big you just want to try something to boost your odds

Is any State Run Lottery Honest?
Yes, and I've read that many other states continue to sell scratch tickets after all prize money has been paid, but I'm not sure if they are only talking about the big prizes. If there are no smallerprizes to be won, then that's total fraud and the tickets should be pulled immediately once that is determined. I agree totally that advertising jackpots which are, in reality, 50% of what a winner will get BEFORE taxes is misleadingbut most people now realize what a cash value is versus an annuit

Is any State Run Lottery Honest?
Texas has been known to keep on selling the scratch-off tickets even after all the prizes are gone. Just as the jackpots are inflated way beyond what the prize money will be. You say corruption ? What about pre-draws and many sets of balls and machines and all other such manipulations known and also maybe unknown ? What random ?

Arkansas Gov. candidate's lottery figures appear unrealistic
Let's face it. A lottery will generate for a state(s) revenue. whether it is in the 2 figure or 3 figure millions. A lottery is going to generate revenue. That is why I think we should have a lottery for natural disaters. It will generate revenue. Insirance companies find every reason they can not to honor hurricane claims. Until you have experience a catastrophic loss due to a natural disaster, you just would not understand the magnitutude of loss! So;Good Idea to introduce the USA Lott

Powerball lottery sales, starting this morning, going smoothly
I agree. Even with Oklahoma, the combined population of all of the Powerball states is still a lot lower than the combined population of all the Mega Millions states when that game's odds were only 1 in 135 million. Heck, even with North Carolina joining Powerball later this year, its current odds will still be appropriate for the population. I think Powerball jumped the gun on its latest matrix change. Sorry, I know I already posted a comment on this topic, but when I read only 1 in 135 milli

Powerball lottery sales, starting this morning, going smoothly
I'm sorry but I just don't undersand that attitude. And I don't understand the obsession with record jackpots. I'd be thrilled to win a paltry $15 million jackpot anyday. I'd take the less than 50% cash value they're now offering and say adios muchachos to the world! In the vernacular of the 80s, RIGHT ON, BROTHER! (or was that the 70s? 60s?...it's all a blurr) I used to hope Florida would get PB or MM, but I spend enough on the State games as it is. Tonight Lotto is $35 million. Average lu

Kentucky lottery winner donates entire prize to college
This story isn't any different than most as far as what it says about taxes, leaving it up to the reader to find out the truth on their own. Although it's in the fine print at the bottom of the page, you clearly say that the withholdings and the actual taxes owed are different things. Very few articles mention anything about the actual tax obligations, and many will say something along the lines of after taxes, the money would come to $7.6 million a year for 30 years or a lump sum of $110 mill
