War Dampens Indiana's Hope of International Lottery
As much as large jackpots are fun, they are not good for individual players. As it stands now, the Mega Millions and Powerball games have a very poor expected value. To achieve a slightly reasonable expected value, they have to be played as a member of a large group and only when jackpots are large. If they double the odds, the players will be worse off.Good luck,Jake

Tax question
I suppose you could go to each state's official website and look under FAQ. Look for the question asking about the way jackpots are taxed.I really don't think you are going to avoid paying taxes on any lottery over $600.00 Taxes are a given in the US. You can always call IRS or a tax attorney about any unique methods of avoiding a tax on lottery jackpots. I doubt either will tell you what you want to hear.

Powerball $85 Million
Kristin,It's the first time I've ever seen them track so closely. However, they are deceptively different -- even though the advertised jackpots are the same, the cash options are much different. MM is $50 million cash vs. PB $46 million. The annuity jackpots are the same only because Powerball uses a longer payoff period (30 years) vs. MM's 26-year payoff.I'd rather win the Mega Millions jackpot right now!

Powerball and Mega Millions Merge
I Don't think that they should merge because they can do well on their own. I just think that Powerball and Mega Millions needs some rules changed Like a hike in the odds or a raise in minimum play amount to two dollars a play and an additional dollar a play for the multiplier. The extra money would make the 400 or 500 million dollar jackpots a reality and not someones dream. Plus the cap on jackpots is B.S. in my opinion they can afford the high jackpot payouts.

$2-per-play lotto
I like the idea of a $2 ticket if there was a bigger audience, ie., Mega or PowerBall. I think we would have some collosal jackpots then. I also like the idea of nightly draws in those two games. I think there are other options to get big jackpots than messing with the odds.

Time to change Mega Millions
Georgia used to be a PowerBall state, but in her infinite wisdom(which she has taken to Tennessee), Ms. Paul decided to drop it in favor of Mega Millions, which promised MEGA jackpots.Looks to me like PB is always larger than MM....BTW--she also said that dropping the Georgia Lottery ( pick 6 ) and replacing it with Lotto South would be better, but it has pitiful ticket sales and very low jackpots. It is so poor, it only grows by 1 mil per week unless it gets to double digits.....Hopefully the n
