Buying more tickets = reduced odds

I personally don't think math and the lottery go together. It that were the case, the greatest mathematicians in the world would be winning the jackpots all the time. The greatest mathematicians in the world would know their odds of winning or losing a lottery. They would tell you if you told a person buying a ticket for a pick3 game that he would n

Quick Picks Vs. Number Selection
Quote: Originally posted by wiseone2 on April 30, 2004Whether quick picks are generated only at the local terminal or from the central computer is an issue of importance. I know every terminal must be able to communicate with the central computer as a requirement of the state lotteries. They also must be able to communicate with each other. Why they need to communicate with each other I've wondered, but it very well may be for the purpose of quick picks, from terminal to terminal. I'm somewh

How does one use statistics to help win?
The only thing I have that I understand as an aid to help eliminate numbers by position is the 90% and 100% lists I posted in the Jackpots thread...with 42 lines, the wheel I have will only cover 0.00143 % of the white ball combos... the backbone of that wheel is the split coverage concept, having the top 2/3 full of numbers in the 90% llst that meet certain dvent criteria for wednesdays, and the bottom 1/3 as a garbage collector for numbers I decided to axe from the top lines. The repeating num

War Dampens Indiana's Hope of International Lottery
Indiana's hopes of joining an international lottery -- boasting prizes as big as $500 million -- have become a casualty of war.Indiana was one of about 30 states and several foreign nations jockeying to organize the international game, which was expected to begin this year with one drawing each week. But talks of the game have stalled because several European nations have withdrawn, citing concerns about U.S. involvement in the Iraq war, Hoosier Lottery Director Jack Ross said. They felt they cou

MM sets a new record

Also you cant compare rollover amounts when the jackpots are at differen

Question
Hey folks. I'm Todd from Ohio. Just discovered this forum recently and was delighted to see lottery enthusiasts other than myself. Been playing since I was in my late teens,I'm 26 now. I've hit the Pick 3 on four different occasions. Twice boxed, twice straight. So I guess if I never win anything ever again,I'm still pretty lucky. Right now in the midst of trying to nail the Pick 4 and the Buckeye 5 (5/37 game). Not easy I tell ya but I ain't giving up. A few questions for you guys, how m

Would you tell or not?
St. Germain,Unless I missed it somewhere, how much were the jackpots? Is your system an easy one. Can you give me some hints on what to do? I play PowerBall. I have a theory that it's mathmatical. I've been working at it for over a year now. I pick my own numbers and hardly ever do quick picks. I haven't won anything more than $7, but have come so close sometimes that it's not even funny. For a minute there, my family and friends thought I was losing it. I would spend so much time trying

Neural Networks- Applicable to Lottery?
no magic at all, I'm leaning towards bias.... look at the 27 as powerball (or lack of it in over 149 drawings)...the number of repeats on separating pb data by wednesdays and saturdays, isolating 10,000,000 drawings from higher jackpots... how the number 20 follows the 35 as pb 5 to 10 drawings later...I have abandoned Quick picks, in favor of one ticket of personal lucky numbers and one ticket based on spreadsheet analysis. $4 per week... IF I manage to get results from this new approach, it

Georgia to sell tickets online
Quote: Originally posted by plnwebguy on March 10, 2004Quote: Originally posted by twisted on March 10, 2004If this thing goes through in Georgia, it will set a precedence for all other states. If this thing does go through, then they wont have to pay the 5% they have to pay to the retailers as hopefully more people will buy their tickets online. That means more money can either go to the state to help fund education, etc, or that 5% can go back to the players!!!!I only see the positive side
