Good omen? Bird collision preceded NJ lottery winner's $90 million Mega Millions jackpot
They handed the clerk their ticket to check it, and the cashier waited for the crowd inside the store to disperse before showing the lucky customer the prize notice.
People rant and rave about wanting to be anonymous.
Then someone walks into a crowded store, hands over their ticket to the cashier to check their numbers - the same numbers that are all over the news, online, basically everywhere.
Oh well, oh well, nothing left to say.
Congratulations

Florida and Claiming a Jackpot Anonymously
Right. They shouldn't have a problem putting a winners face and name on their website. To my mind the real question is do they require it?
Theoretically they could put any given winners picture that had claimed anonymously on their website after six months had elapsed, but that's IF The Florida Lottery requires winners pictures to appear on their website like New York does. It's possible they dont. And they might not even have taken the winners picture at the time the ticket was claimed beca

South Dakota trust claims $78 million Lotto Texas jackpot days before it expires
i think the secrecy is to deter scammers. there are just too many out there these days.
Scammers are one reason to (try to) remain anonymous. People you already know are often another good reason. People who think your net worth is fairly typical tend not to pester you for large handouts, but a lot of us have a relative or acquaintance who would want a piece of the pie if they knew it was a multi-million dollar pie. Keeping the wealth secret tends to be a lot harder than just claiming anony

Something is rotten in the state of Michigan
As I do every morning I read the news on the Michigan website.
Today they have a picture of a winning Fantasy 5 ticket.
At the top of the ticket it says it was printed at 2:30:06
and underneath the EZ match section it says 4:30:06
Also all the EZ Match prizes are $4!
The Michigan Fantasy 5 is an RNG game.
Can anyone explain what happened here?

Secrets of a lottery lawyer-Kurt Panouses interview
State income tax applies to the state in which you live at the time you gain constructive receipt or the economic benefit of the money. Unless the ticket is from a state you don't live in, in which case that state gets their income tax before your home state gets a crack at it.
what is the advantage of hiring someone advertising themselves as a lottery lawyer over someone [else]
There's a lawyer in MA who has represented a number of winners, and (at least according to the reporting I sa

Three $1 million winning Powerball lottery tickets sold at the same New York store
For those living in Florida, the question of whether or not a second place PB prize winner can remain anonymous is clear. Well it's kinda clear anyway, but not really.
Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide the winner s name, city of residence, game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information
On its website, The Florida lottery publishes a Jackpot Winners and Retailer Information report which does not include any second place PB/MM prize
