Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
The cash value is only running at 10% of what it would be when it was at $2.00 a line.
90% of all other cash jackpots were much higher by this time in the jackpot run.
This may be reflective of this poll where nearly 60% are not playing.
Has nothing to do with the price of the game. Cash v. Annuity value only depends on the expected return of US 30-yr bonds.
The lottery starts with the actual funds they have (=cash value) and then advertise the annuity multiplying the cash value

One Georgia ticket wins $983 million Mega Millions jackpot
Largest lottery jackpot win ever in the state
Updated with final jackpot annuity and cash amounts
By Todd Northrop
After a run of 39 drawings without a jackpot winner, the 40th drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions game produced a single $983 million winner last night when one lottery ticket sold in Georgia matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball.
It is by far the largest lottery jackpot ever won in the state of Georgia. The next-largest amount won in the state was a $648

Balancing Odds and Cost 😁
A lot of players talk about or are thinking about value when buying a lottery ticket. That's fine if that's important to a player.
As for me personally, because of the ridiculous odds against players, I don't give value any thought at all. When I buy tickets all I'm thinking about is What could/would I do with it if I won a big pile of money? I know and accept the fact that I'll probably never actually have the pleasure of making that decision.
My attitude is if I don't win, it's no bi

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
You are conflating two different issues.. The lottery, and the tax on income.
THe Lottery organisers don't pay the tax on winnings. They withhold an amount because the winner is liable for income tax. Then the winner pays any extra they might owe...
Americans get to pay up to 37% because that is the top rate of a set of variable rates...
nonresident aliens get to pay 30% on any winnings over $500 (or is it $600)... That is a flat rate..
If I won $50,000 in a US lottery, I w

Lucky For Life to Millionaire For Life - $5 Ticket
The difference between Lucky for Life $2 and Millionaire for Life $5 is nothing like the difference between old MM $2 and new MM $5. New MM $5 is a horrible game. It's not just the price of $5, it's what you get for that five bucks.
Lucky for Life $2 has a 1 in 30 million chance of winning the top prize. Millionaire for Life improves that to 1 in 23 million.
The ticket costs 2.5 times as much but the top prize is more than 2.5 times as much... 2.74 times as much as an annuity, or 3.13 ti

I bought my MM for 8/22 as promised.
I was so lucky that I got a 5x on my ticket.
After the draw, I matched nada
I feel that the more the multiplier value on your ticket, the more the pressure one feels to win anything.
It's hard to get the 5x and the 10x, and when you have it, you want to make it count.
Oh well, that's now in the past.
Good luck to all in the PB draw tonight.

Mega Millions constant $10 million increases
A $2 prize (times whatever multiplier, so $4 to $20) for matching two white balls would add 18% to the value of all non-jackpot prizes in total. That's a lot for such a small win.
More accurately a $2 prize for matching 2 white balls would reduce the money that goes to the jackpot by about 14.6%. That would reduce the current cash value of $67.9 million to $58 million. For those who believe the advertising it would reduce the current $150 million annuity to $128 million if they abandoned or

We analyzed 41 states — 17% of scratch-offs on sale right now have zero top prizes left
Been running ScratchSmarter for 15 years, pulling daily prize data from official lottery sites across 41 states. We
just published a full analysis on something we're calling the Dead Zone games where every top prize has been
claimed but the lottery keeps selling them at full price.
The national number: 579 of 3,348 active games (17.3%) are in the Dead Zone right now.
Worst states:
- Wisconsin: 54.5% (55 of 101 games)
- Oregon: 53.1% (51 of 96 games)

Pennsylvania Cash Pop Starting November 18 2025
Looking at their prizes, there are are 9 multipliers...
X5 - 1:31.05
X7 - 1:75
X10 - 1:105
X15 - 1:180, The level needed to break even on playing all 15
X20 - 1:270
X25 - 1:630
X50 - 1:2,250
X100 - 1:4,125
X250 - 1: 15,000
So the odds depend on which multiplier is assigned to which number, because the odds of the actual draw are 1:15.
So look at it like this... on $1 bet the odds are 15,000 to one on getting an x250 AND you need to beat the 15 to 1 odd
