Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I will not play Mega Millions until the lower tier prizes are commensurate with the odds and the ticket price. For example, that means that the pre-Megaplier prize for matching 4 numbers (odds 1 in 38,860) needs to be about $97,150 (38,860 X $5 ticket price X .5) to get me interested. The pre-Megaplier prize is $500, which is also the typical prize for the 3-ball, whose odds are 1 in 1000. Otherwise, take the prize for matching three numbers plus the Mega Ball. The odds of matching that

1) In what alternative universe do you live where 1,221,759 divided by 5 is 38,719? It's the alternate universe where your odds are inversely proportional to (the number of tickets you bought) ^2. When you say each time you double the number of tickets you buy you cut the odds in half he somehow hears each time you buy another ticket you cut the odds in half. I've cut ther odds of 1,221,759 down to 38,719 so surely I can expect to win somethnig tonight, no? I guess that in that un

Probability of winning with multiple tickets
I would be shocked if a casino sold books about gambling with any truth in them. They need people to make bad bets. I didn't say each additional ticket cuts the odds in half. I said the odds of you winning is (odds of one ticket winning) divided by (number of tickets). Use my pick 2 example. What are the odds of me winning if I buy 2 tickets? How about 5 tickets?

would you rather win 1, 10, 50, 100, or 500 million $
In Las Vegas every time a 'knowledge' player would approach a table with a note book and a pencil would approach a table old time bosses would say, Oh here we go, another genius from Providence . You sound like one. While one player on a crap table is winning a lot betting on the hard ways and horn bets they'll be another one on the table telling other players what bad bets the prop player is making. So much for a math degree with an emphasis on probabilities. Your thinking that four shooters on

Florida's Fantasy 5
What are SC 5's odds? If they have a matrix greater than 5/36 then the games odds are higher than FF5's. (376,992 to 1) NY Take5 has 575,757 to 1 odds because their matrix is 5/39. Mass Cash has a 5/35 matrix and their odds to win a jackpot are 324,632 to 1. A little means a lot! G5

New Jersey couple wins $3 million lottery prize six months after winning $1 million
I'm talking about the 1 in 1.2T odds mentioned in the article specifically which is independent of how much you play. You can play a 100 or 1000 games, the odds above are not going to change since odds of winning those big prizes are calculated based solely on odds of each of those two games. On the other hand, the more you play the more chances you have of winning something which is common sense and you can't combine both. I don't know how else to explain it further.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Hi gatorsrok, you're welcome and indeed if I'm estimating the ticket count correctly then yeah the $500K odds aren't that great - heck iirc the $30 FTM from a few years back had similar odds for a $1M and was a $30 ticket. indeed if the $200 prize level was rolled in the $500K line the odds go to 1/94,000 or so. i think with this structure book buyers will not have to cringe as much fearing a $400 return I plan to actualize the odds when the rule is issued tomorrow, so please stay tu

scratch-off ticket strategy
I'm not getting your point. If a game has 4 of 8 top prizes remaining (that would be half), but I don't know how many tickets are remaining, I don't know if my odds of winning are good or bad. If this game was 90% sold, I would definitely play. My odds of winning the top prize are 5 times better. But if the game is only 10% sold, I would definitely not play. My odds of winning the top prize are much less. Conclusion: this is why I don't bother if a game has 4 of 8 top prizes remaining . If a

Cash 5 DEFENSE
If a person truly believes the lottery is cheating players, then why continue to buy tickets? My belief is with jackpot games the odds are the culprit. MM odds over 1 in 302 MILLION. PB odds over 1 in 292 MILLION. Our Cash 5 game is 1-35 numbers, odds 1 in 324,632. There are 3 or 4 draws without a winner each week, sales are usually about 150,000 - 190,000 tickets per draw. Play for fun, don't take it so serious.
