Pa. lawmaker wants to give lottery winners right to remain anonymous
That mudslide was so bad, the car ended up in a canal in Pennsylvania, in a funky little place called New Hope (there's some irony in that, I think). There was nothing to indicate that it was anything more than the driver leaving a restaurant by the wrong exit and missing a turn in heavy rain. And there was no mudslide. And she was investigating the death of an Italian banker, not sports betting.
Please then tell us how you explain the states that allow players to be anonymous.
Please ex

Pa. lawmaker wants to give lottery winners right to remain anonymous
One of the most important decisions for new winners to make is whether to opt to go public or remain anonymous. If a winner decides to talk publicly about their win, Camelot s PR team will organise a press conference and handle all media interest on their behalf, removing the anxiety that can accompany talking about a big win.
If they have requested to remain anonymous, Camelot takes its obligations and duty of care to protect winners privacy very seriously. Unless a winner agrees to take ful

Pa. lawmaker wants to give lottery winners right to remain anonymous
Savagegoose once mentioned that Australian playslips have a NP option - No Publicity or something. Sounds like a great idea.
I figure jackpot winners can either remain anonymous (if allowed by their state) or wish they had remained anonymous.
I don't get people that demand to know who won......sorry, no need to know and not on the access roster.

Are there any advantages to NOT being anonymous?
If Illinois allowed anonymous claims, you could rest assured that only the corrupt politicians and their cronies would be the winners of the state jackpots. If Iowa would have allowed anonymous claim, then that Hot Lotto jackpot would have been claimed instead of being denied when the guy's backstory sounded fishy. There are ways to handle claiming a prize non anonymously, but the end result is yes, the person's life will change. One could claim prize wearing disguise so that even though your n

Florida to reveal winner of $590.5 million Powerball lottery
Somebody pointed out that if you had a blind trust, you would have less control over it. You wouldn't know how and where the money is invested.
I seem to recall a few years ago where somebody claimed his winning through a trust but through Freedom of Information Act or through other legal means, the media finds out who the winner was and published his name.
It seems that the only sure way to remain anonymous is if you buy your winning ticket in a state where you are allowed to be ano

$338M N.J. Powerball winner says he'll help family
Bet his neighbors, distant relatives, and opportunity seekers are knocking on his door right now to help him celebrate his winnings.
Hope he has another place to stay that is unknown to everyone, unless he intends to share his windfall with them.
Reason why the lottery commission was recommending the winner not to come forward right away was because the anonymous lottery winner bill is in the works. Guess he does not know about it,and or, if he did, does not wish to remain anonymous or wait

Arizona Lottery winners could soon remain anonymous
Michigan has been anonymous on in-state games over 10k$ since 1988 or 1989 and it has not stopped the Michigan lottery from making ever more money.
Other states are totally anonymous and it has not stopped them from selling tickets.
I follow the monthly winner reports on the Michigan site and they tell you which ticket, how much and the store it was sold at.
Even if it said something like Flooby McBloobySplort of Dowagiac won umptybajillion dollars who would care except crimina

Do some number combinations have better odds?
People like Stack47 are either true believers or are paid for their efforts here.
Speaking of hypocrisy, I'll ask you the same question you asked Ridge.
how could an ordinary, run of the mill, anonymous poster at LP, such as yourself, know anything about another anonymous poster at LP?

Would you take less money to preserve your anonymity?
mediabrat,
It's am interesting concept but let's tweak it a little bit and make anonymous the 'defualt' and ask would you take more money not to remain anonymous?
Maybe you could do anotrher poll.
Just a thought.

N.J. Assembly panel clears one-year anonymity for lottery winners
I agree with golfer1960 in their post above. Why one year?
People will be waiting like vultures if they have any suspicion they know who the winner was.
Anonymous should mean anonymous with no time restriction.
If lawyers have to get involved may I once again suggest the JWPP - Jackpot Winners Protection Program - a parallel to the Witness Protection Program format, but the lawyers handle all attempted correspondence and contacts. Everything goes through 'the program' and the winners ar
