I get that and I welcome a healthy level of skepticism but people can't just pick and choose when to be skeptical. Either the whole thing is rigged or not. Not to mention people aren't forced to play. The lottery is audited and very transparent. Winners shouldn't have to pay a heavy price to appease conspiracy theorists with childish understandings of how lotteries are conducted.

I just tried to dream up a story about an MITer obtaining a lotto ticket printer and modifying the machine to print up a ticket with his numbers, but showing a QP, thereby masking how his/her numbers were picked. The MITer is working with an insider to rig the pick at HQ. The ball picking machine is rigged with magnets turned on at moment of draw. The MITer defeats the security through obscurity methods used at Mega Millions HQ.

I can't imagines a sensible reason why resolving a security problem in one state would stop anyone from buying a ticket, but some people are saying all drawings are rigged because of that delay.

The lottery isn't rigged, its the payout stipulations that are crafted to the states benefit. Just like the proceeds are supposed to go toward education, instead it goes into the general fund, and it's up to the lottery winner to file suit, (they never do) besides do you think that someone who scores a 500 million cash value jackpot gives a flock how much they are taxed???

The people who are constantly saying the lottery is rigged are angry because they have not won yet. Also these people most likely are the ones who only play when the jackpot gets huge. They think the jackpot prize is the only money to be won so, if their ticket matches 5 out 6, 4 out of 6 and so on, they throw the ticket away, not knowing or don't care that there are smaller prizes to be won.

I know, some people actually believe there is such a thing as a lucky state or unlucky state or even a lucky store. Gee, they say store on the state border sells a lot of winning tickets. Or it must be rigged because California has the most winners. These people should be banned from playing.

Well Cassie, you and your dad are both 100% wrong. You both have no idea about the ratio of tickets sold in those alleged lucky or rigged states as you put it compared to yours apparently. Just check the population of those states compared to each other to get an idea of how many times more tickets get sold. Never mind the fact that the per capita income is higher and they have more discretionary money to purchase tickets than an ex Appalachian coal miner might.

i know lol my dad been saying, all rigged Cassie. i believe him, unless i see multi-dozens in each state win at least 4 to 5 numbers, without mega/powerball when over 100 million , and few several people multi-states win BIG too over 5 or the entire jackpot, THEN i won't believe it's rigged, til' then? i believe it is, my OWN opine on that,and dad's(who i believe period) i'm not 1 who believe that only 1 soul, win a big jackpot like that...
