Lump Sum or payments?
Have you ever considered what it costs to pay cash and lose the investment income? If you invested 250k at 5% and lost 30% of the interest to taxes you'd net 3.5% every year. In 30 years that would turn the 250k into just over 700k, for an increase of $500k. If you took a 30 year mortgage on 250k at 6% your monthly payments would be just under $1500, so the total of the payments would be $540,000. $290,000 of that would be interest that's deductible, saving you $87k in taxes. That makes the real

PA Cash 5 Changing Matrix
If what you mentioned above it is true i would like to know why 4/5 will go down. I can't understand it the odds for matching 4/5 will increase too, obviosly... why will the payout decrease?. Will the current percentages of the distribution of the winnings pool remain the same?
So far this sounds like bad news to me...They make it 2/3 times harder to win and decrease 2nd prize...

Quick picks
I play QP all the time as the numbers for family members birthdays have not been drawn in PB or MM for years.
Haven't won much, but the wins are starting to increase in number as has the $$ that has been won so far. At this rate, I should be the PB jackpot winner in August 2015. HAHAHA

Tenn. lawmakers trying to force lottery to switch back to real draws
If they switch back to ball drawings I would bet that sales would increase for Cash 3, Cash 4, and lotto 5. I could start playing Lotto 5 again. Hard to believe that game was voted one of the best in the country here on LP a while back. It went down the poop hole on July 28, 2007. However, we can still bring back a good game if the appropriate actions are taken. I support these guys! Bring it back!

Pick 3/computerized cheats/advance plays
bigbankhank$-
I know in NY where I play they have BONUS days about once a year and pay out 20% more on 3 4 way. THis is due to them NOT paying out enough winnings and (if I understand right) having to increase the payout. Doesn't mean they don't cheat but at least they acknowledge that they are not paying out enough. And lately they bonus days have been happening every 6 months or so.

Pick 3 wheel
OIC What I want is a wheel for 10 numbers ,with 3 numbers in each line, (to cut a long story short), to help me select my weekly lotto numbers for pick 6. Any chance of modifying your software so that it will go up to say 15 numbers instead of the present 9? I'm sure this would dramatically increase the amount of interest in your software therefore sales., as pick 3 for 10 to 15 numbers seems very scarce. Many thanks for your prompt reply. Hope you can help me further. Kindest Re

Raffle Idea
Actually it might be an excellent form of profit. If they were able to increase the sales of that specific game by over 100% what does the state care that the extra $10 went back to the palyer. They keep the profits on the extra sales.
But finding someone at the lottery that thinks that way - impossible.

What is the perfect number?
Pools are a great way to increase your odds of AT LEAST hitting something. Even splitting 250k among 10 people is still good to me. At one place I worked we tried a TAKE 5 (NY) pool - we tried all qp's and then we tried picking the #'s. Neither way got us more then $25 bucks and there were10 of us. It only lasted about 2 months then we gave up.
I am in another pool which is called 'retirement fund' as the employer of the person doing it doesn't allow for gambling.

NC pre-test drawings
Janet, just my opinion, but if they publish the pre-tests, then they are up front. Do you trust a state that hides the data? If the state publishes the pre-test data you have the ability to use those pre-test draws in your analysis, and I would do that. Florida does pre-tests and doesn't publish the data. They never did pre-test before they changed the lottery contractor. He showed them an easy way to increase the profits. The Fla lottery told me they didn't use the payout as a factor. My respon
