I think you also forgot/didn't realize that we've still got 5 drawings leading up to 1/13 if we count the upcoming 12/30 one? That August Jackpot went 356, 430, 535, 758. Since it rolled tonight we're starting with an extra 28 million compared to last August, and we've got one more drawing to build the jackpot, assuming it keeps rolling. Even if each increase is 10% smaller than those August increases we'd still see 384, 450, 544, then 744. I'd be pretty surprised if it gets north of 700 and

Back when we only had the Big Game here in Md.,I used to buy $5 worth on both drawings. Then it was still $1 a line. Buying 5 lines a drawing now would be $40 a week even without the Mega-Plier or Power Play options. Most players are not going to spend that much a week on games with such crazy odds any more, if any ever did. It is disappointing that they didn't do anything to differentiate between Mega Ball and Power Millions. I was hoping for a Big-A-Plier for 2nd and 3rd prizes and a Small-A-Plier for the other prizes. I think that the best jackpot game to play now is none of the above. In my opinion state games are the way to go. I live in New Hampshire and play our states JP game Tri State Megabucks (current JP $3.5 million, odds of winning JP just under 1 in 4.5 million). Yep, the Wikipedia article on Mega Millions has that info. What they are doing is putting all the old and loyal players out to pasture by raising the ticket price AND making it harder to win AGAIN! The statement they are making is 'don't waste your money on these games until the jackpots are super high and even then you probably wont even win a small prize.' By the way, 75% of all Take5 tickets sold are Quick Picks. (A few years ago, I sent the NY Lottery an email and asked them what percentage of all tickets sold were QP's. They emailed me back saying 75% were QP's.) That means 25% are player picks, and three times as many QP's are sold than player picks.
